STAR WARS - The Acolyte lightsabers

Interesting that the Jedi Order's symbology has shifted significantly in just a century:

Enjoying the show, hating the lightsabers
I also don't love the designs. They're all so bulky and overly simplistic. What I do love about them is they all look like they are part of the same design language. They were trying to create a cohesive look for the era. I respect that they committed whether they look great or not. At the end of the day, I'm just relieved I don't have another $1,000+ that I have to spend on lightsabers, lol.

Except this is the Jedi Order crest from just a century before… featuring on all the belt buckles and robes of the Phase I costuming.

Ah, but what's that from? Because no matter what Disney claims about the comics, novels, video games, and so on, it's clear that on a practical level anything that isn't a movie or a tv show is generally being ignored by the movies and tv shows. Disney can say whatever they want but in effect they have the same sort of "full canon" and "semi canon" that Trek has.

Which means that if this symbol (it's not a crest unless it's on a helmet or other headgear, since I'm being pedantic anyway :p ) is from a comic or what have you, it's very likely that the Acolyte team didn't even know about it and are only considering how the symbology changes between their show and the prequels.

You know-- that design isn't actually bad. Some of them are better than others-- it's that thickness. They look clunky AF. There's no doubt this is a case of production practicality coming before production design. They must have lost a lot of time to lightsaber malfunctions or problems on the other shows.

I think the idea for all of the tech on this show is just...bigger. The comms are those big tubes on the other side of the belt. They needed a special rifle to be able to have a stun blaster. I honestly think it might have just been a choice to make things look older.

Yeah, they are going with thick tubes, which once you rotoscope the effect over will get TOO big if you don't keep it tight. The lack of motion blur is odd.
Prop department should switch to short 7/8" blades...
