Stargate Atlantis Ancients Replacator Weapon

That sounds like an awesome plan, Marc. :thumbsup

Not to turn this into an interest thread, but as silverskyes402 said; will you be selling casts? :)

well, we are not there yet :) but yes, i will probably offer a couple as kits.

when i have the 3D model done, i'll post a render of it.

here's some quick renders of the 3D model, about 80% done. Working on the middle section now. When done, it will be 'cut' in several layers for lasercutting out of acrylic sheet. Let me know what you think.

i am thinking of doing the crystals in pressurecast clear resin, probably lightly sanbblasted to give them that frosted look so the light will be diffused.

The master for the crystal part will be done by sanding various thicknesses of styrene rods into crystal shapes.

Very fast Marc! Looking good. As for the "slide" that covers the crystals... I'm not sure I've ever seen one of the weapons with the slide closed so it's possible it's just a detail for effect and not functional. Wouldn't it be easier to create the replica without trying to work the slide into it?

WOW looking great!!! I agree with surfergeek about the closing and opening, would be alot easier, but not as cool. Cant wait to see what you turn out!!!

apologies to the owner of this one as it came off a image search on Google. If it's yours, let me know and I'll credit it or remove it.

That's my picture, and that's me holding the weapon. I have a friend who works in the Stargate prop shop, and got a little tour about a year ago. I'm fine with you using the pic in this capacity. It's a really neat prop.

easier? yes, but not as fun :D When i build a prop, i tend to go all the way :D Based on the close up shots, it certainly looks like it opens and closes.

thanks for the kind words, people :)

NICE NICE NICE Where did you get the reference for the Ancient text? Do you know where i could find Ori text?

The acient lettering can be downloaded as a font on the net. For the gun, it just needs to be altered slightly in illustrator
