Steve Johnson's "Rubber Rules" Youtube Channel!

Hey folks. I'm the director/editor/admin or whatever you want to call it for Steve's YouTube channel. We have some very cool things lined up for the channel! We're working through about six hours of interviews we've done with Steve (so far) and there are some great videos coming. I'm producing videos like the one posted, but we're also pulling out some of his demo reels, TV shows, etc to keep the channel busy.

Steve really does have a massive video and photo library from his 30+ year career. I'm burning through terabyte hard drives just trying to digitize it all. As a fan, this stuff blows my mind. As an editor, I have a hard time cutting things out. I want to include it all!

I have ideas of what I think is cool and what people want to see, but if you have any requests, I'm listening. Reply here or PM me. Steve and everyone involved is adamant that this channel serve the fans of the films. So tell us what it is you want. If you haven't visited the channel, please do. If you like it, please subscribe!

Yup Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr., even has the voice. He seems like a very cool guy and I'm excited to see his work on you tube. He had that hollywood feel like Stan Winston. I can't wait to see Ghost Busters and Big trouble in little china stuff and everything else he's worked on. Remember movie magic? ;)

This is amazing stuff. Can someone tell me why as Steve said he's now out of the biz?
I may have missed something but did he retire? Is he giving up?
Just wondering..Great stuff though!

As already noted, we have posted the first episode of "Back Into The Abyss". Steve and his crew built the NTIs for The Abyss, and how they did that is just amazing. In my opinion, they are one of the most amazing alien creatures ever made for a film. If done today, without a doubt, they would have been CGI.

If you want to watch it:

We really appreciate all the support you all are giving to the channel. We're planning some very interactive things in the near future. While the timing and logistics aren't 100% nailed down, our goal is to have fans of his films "call in" and ask questions. More on that as it develops! :thumbsup

You didn't miss it yet! We have an episode coming up where Steve addresses that exact question and gives some insight as to what he's up to these days.

Funny you should mention Ghostbusters. That's coming up! We've already finished that piece and it's in the queue!

Good stuff. :thumbsup

Personally, I'd really like to see some more of Steve's work on Virus, Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and Leviathan. :)

Thanks! As a kid, I was a massive Nightmare fan, so I'm anxious to do that one too. The goal is to cover as many of Steve's movies as we possibly can. Hopefully all of them. So long as people still subscribe to the channel and watch, we plan to keep going.

awesome stuff, wow, definite Subscribe! Cant wait for the Ghostbusters stuff.

I LOVE that these are being done! I'm a huge fan of Steve's and it's a treat to see how these effects were created. Thanks!

And I have to say, the last segment in this latest one had me rolling! :lol:lol

Great stuff!
-B89! :D

I'm glad you liked it! There is more on the way. We will shift gears a bit this week and put up the first Ghostbusters episode and come back to The Abyss in a few weeks.

Back when I was a young teen, I was too scared to watch horror movies. I ended up seeing the making of Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and was fascinated with all the effects and movie magic. After that, I couldn't get enough of the horror genre. So I guess in a way I can credit Steve with getting me to grow a pair and my wife can blame him for all the good and bad horror movies we own. :lol

I know what you mean. I hated horror movies until I saw how they were made. It was mind blowing. I had pictures of monsters and makeup artists glued to the covers of my books and inside my lockers.

It's surreal to go from just having pictures of people you admire to working with them. I'm getting a closer look behind the curtain at all the creatures and films I saw and loved as a kid!
