Stormtrooper ANH E-11 Build - Pic heavy

Here is a small update on this blaster. My family and I recently moved and even though my props were wrapped carefully in a box marked FRAGILE, the movers dropped it. My precious E-11 was broken. I wasn't too upset about it because I knew that someday it was bound to happen. However, I'm now in a position to be able to utilize my Step Father's welding skills so that I can properly hold this thing together.

Using a mallet, I knocked off all the parts held on with JB Weld and prepped the surfaces with a wire wheel.

Next we used a Miller MIG welder to spot weld the parts back into place. I'll come back later and fill in the gaps and smooth out the welds. This is the WIP so far.

Did you de-braze the parts from the original cut receiver, or just cut them with an angle grinder and cutting wheel?

I cut them apart with a Dremel and a cutting disc. It took some time but I was able to be fairly precise with it.

Bump for updated photos. Photobucket hosed me so I'm updating all of my thread photos.

Three years later and I finally got around to finishing this project. It's been sitting on a shelf all this time and now it's done. I cleaned up the welds and filled in the gaps. I gave it a fresh coat of paint and then gave it a once-over with a Scotch-Brite pad. I even added a magnetic attachment for the Hengstler Counter so I can take it off easily if I need to. I'm calling this one DONE!
