Stranger Things (Netflix)

I haven’t been able to watch this series due to my kids being too scared! I started the first couple of episodes but Didn’t he die then? Hope one day to get this series going.

I wish I was excited about this but I stopped caring after season 3.
After I saw TWD crash and burn in 6 seasons I decided not to watch anymore TV shows until the whole series had been completed. My daughter begged me to watch ST after she had seen the first season, unfortunately we were all let down by season 3. The worst part is having a teenager that gets so "into" a show that she invests in all sorts of stuff from it, then cools and has a ton of collectables and wardrobe from the show lying around.
Same thing happened with the Star Wars PT, TWD, It, Tokyo Ghoul, etc. We have a graveyard of her abandoned fandoms!

It's one of those "it's about damn time" things. I know they can't help it but when one of the attractions is the age of the actors, they've all outgrown their roles.

The only good thing about ST is that if you wanna stop at S1 it's okay, if you wanna stop at S2 it's okay too. The seasons are mostly conclusive and do not end on massive cliffhangers or sequel baits (massive being the operative word). I loved S1, was ok with S2 and thought S3 was a joke so to me it ended at S2 and I'm content.
It's not like GOT where I'm borderline embarrassed now how much I was into it.
I also recognize I'm responding to a year and a half old post...

As long as they have a solid ending planned for it, and hopefully one they had at least the bare bones concept for then I'm on board. I do hope they only do 5 seasons at most. Even that might be too long, but any more than 5 and I think the charm will wear off.

I adored the first season and really enjoyed the second. The third started to show some signs of wear and the meta aspect creeped in too much for my liking. While I enjoyed it overall I do think they really need to tone down the self awareness of being a story set in the 1980's. The first season deftly avoided this trap so I'm hoping they recall that sensibility going forward. There were other logic gaps that I took issue with in season 3 but by and large it ended on a high note.

I'm very much looking forward to revisiting these characters again. Given the age of the young actors I just hope they don't overdo it and push the story out so far that it gets less interesting as a result. I don't want to see Stranger Things 2: The College Years, or Stranger Things 3: Midlife Crisis Mode. Or The Stranger Things prequel: How Hopper Met Joyce.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t feel comfortable with season 3.. well.. I think if it wasn’t for underground Russians it would have been better.. like the whole Russians in uniform.. in America.. in a under ground secret mall base… heh.. ditch the Russian military uniforms and I wouldn’t have been pulled out so much

I do think it will be explained why they feel so comfortable in the USA in uniform because of some kind of upside down gateway that lets them jump back and forth to Russia

idk kind of contradicts itself though.. because they are trying to open the gate.. if they did have some kind of teleporter doesnt that mean they already opened the gate?

heh..
