Studioscale Tie Bomber

Hey Lee, just wondering if you have had any luck finding the Vosper parts I'm looking for.
Helio

Helio, I've got parts A 5&6 sorted for you, still on sprues, but the other i think may be in my super big misc box of bits, so hang in there and ill get to that soon for you!

Very nice work! Did anyone ever kit a SS version of this?

Good news! From the expert hands of member Pwlmusic, I'll be coming out with an accurate Studio Scale TIE Bomber within the next month or so. He tirelessly hunted down and bought the original kit parts and put them together. He was going to do this as a one-off (as so many of you guys do so expertly) but after some helpful advice on duplicating and casting some parts, we came to the conclusion that we should kit it for those who don't want to (or can't) build their own. Pics have been taken, will post soon!

Can anyone give me any pointers on these pieces? Especially the Red pieces. Does anyone cast them? I've just about got all my Bomber parts sorted, just wanted to get this area right

Also, is there an agreed length for the center 3/4" wide tube?
Thanks,
L

Blue parts : scratch

Red parts : scratch

Small details on red parts : Hanomag

It's been in my queue for sometime but I'm fixing to finalize my drawings for the pylons which will be laser cut and then ultimately cast as sets along with the other corrected cockpit/bomb bay dishes and wing extensions thay I offered a few years ago. Any takers? Might speed up the process if I know they are needed. Lmk.

Joe

PS...Al, I'm fixing to cast those tiny parts for the wings. Still need em'?

I'm looking at a late January release for the whole kit. So if anyone wants the whole shebang in one go, it'll be here soon! :)

Joe or Stu, if there's a possibility to get just those wing parts in the next month or so, I'd pre-pay for them now. Currently I have:

Now lets get back to Telepathics great build!

Got it, fellas! I'm all over it....just dusted off the old files. I'm still suspicious that those rings could be a wheel from a kit. Either way, I'll get back into perfecting a pattern for those slanted pylons.

Joe

Your question got my suspicions about this area going again. I don't know if you forgot to highlight the first section but I highlighted it green. Does any one else besides me think that that first ring could be from a 1/25 truck? The Titan 90 has chrome wheel halves that look like it. I don't know if it's just me but does that look like a lip at the end instead of the beginning of the next ring? LMK...

I see your Titan, and raise you the AMT C600 possibly? I see where your mids at Joe, and, i think your onto something buddy!

Cool! Thanks for the back up, Lee!

I definitely do not want to get a head of myself like with those Rodney bits on the wings. I can't recall who at ILM built the model but I found it hard to believe that they took the time to fabricate that section with the bookshelves of kits so close by. Even the grooves in the fuselage tubes look hand made (tape, etc. used as a guide). Look at Stu's tubes and you'll see what a lathe does. If ILM used a lathe on the lines, I find it hard to believe that they could get two sets of four rings to look that identical.

You're right, Lee, the C600 might also be a possibility. I'm gonna dig around some more.

Joe

Not sure who built the bomber mate, not much behind the scenes of it TBH.....the C600 springs to mind as i know it has a rim similar to what your depicting, and its maybe more in line with the TESB timeframe being used on the chicken etc? The adjacent rings on the prop, have you checked the other rims in the Titan? Sure there was a larger/wider rim in there with a centre shoulder, just wondered if that is butted against your other rim hunch, with one side cut off?

lee

Lee,
Speaking of springs (leaf springs), the Titan 90 was also used on the chicken, remember? Either way, though, all the 1/25 trucks have similar parts that just so happen to have a center hole diameter of .75" (19.05mm).

Similarly, a while back I estimated the largest ring at 1.37" (34.8mm) in diameter after placing the Leopold and Karl parts on the inner wing for reference. Oddly enough, the Freuhauf flatbed has a part (below) which just happens to measure 1.375"! Not a complete match on other dimensions but at least it's an indicator that there are parts out there that are very close.

Joe, I completely missed that extra piece you highlighted. To be honest I've not looked it over too much yet (until I need to make it)
It does look like you are onto something.
