The Batman costume research and found parts ID

Can confirm, can not recommend this shop. You will literally have to file a PayPal dispute to get your product, and it will likely be B grade at best.
Can also back this up, had a rough process trying to get him to deliver my ordered cowl from him, he said itd only take 2 weeks and it was nearly a 3 month wait, and like somebody else said, the communication was just awful. Numerous examples of him just completely dodging my very clearly worded and straight forward questions, and you couldn't squeeze out a definitive answer on anything from him in messages. I found the best course of action to be to wait until he starts a live stream, and to then ask about your order in the chat so he can't ignore your messages. I did that, and wouldn't you know it, my cowl shipped out like a day after lol. Of course it arrived with a few thin spots in the casting, so I'm waiting on him to (I will say kindly, as he's even letting me keep the first one) send a replacement cowl as well as the bicep guard armor for the movie suit. My deadline is in like 3 weeks so wish me luck lol.

Update to the belt thread above. After talking with Michael from Bat and Cat Cosplay, there are some new pieces of info I wanted to correct and share:

  1. UPDATE: Michael has confirmed that the original manufacturer of the base belt went out of business in 2020, and that the studio did cut pieces from different belts to Frankenstein this hero belt together using rear webbing. Barring waiting for and purchasing Michael's upcoming screen-accurate belt, I'd start with cutting apart two Aker B03 Sam Brownes: Amazon.com: Aker Leather B03 Sam Browne Duty Belt, Half Leather-Lined, 2-1/4" Width, Basketweave, 48" , Black : Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry

  2. UPDATE: The visible silver circles that I thought were the backs of the female sides of the snaps that hold the belt to the undersuit are in fact - Chicago screws that hold the leather belt pieces to the underside webbing (Thanks again to Michael) There ARE snaps that hold the belt in place - more accurately, they probably anchor the torso tunic from riding up. But these are the visible backs of the Chicago screws that hold the leather belt to the inside webbing.

  3. UPDATE: Michael has identified that the 2.25" duty belt is backed with nylon webbing that is then connected to a Fidlock 40mm flat snap buckle in the rear. This is the buckle that actually holds the belt together out of sight (as opposed to the cool front belt that was modified from the Makefast piece) Fidlock SNAP Buckle Flat 40mm / 1.6 Magnetic Connector - Etsy
This helped me a lot. Thank you.

Shouldn't there be more Chicago screws here? But there aren't any to be seen, not even on the other side.

Updated reference photo dump from the real props from Batman Unmasked event.

Belt:

tempImage6dUwkO.jpg

  • Speed loader is from First Class Gear (at the back on the right)
  • Pouch is a Protec Tactical Smart phone pouch with the label on the front crudely cut off (Front right)
  • Belt is stitched together with elastic joints as well as Chicago screws
  • MakeFast Triangle is attached to the belt with a leather strap. (Not nylon like most people do)
  • Aker 510 Magazine pouch (9mm/.40cal option)

tempImagezOBlog.jpg

tempImage1EwhaS.jpg

Here you can see how they have modified the back of the Protec pouch to be attached with 2 custom leather straps using Chicago screws and snap fasteners. As well as seeing the elastic that goes behind the belt buckle and with 2 snap fasteners either side to attach the belt to the flight suit.

tempImageOmXdWs.jpg

Rear of belt has standard nylon buckle. (Other examples of the belt have a Fidlock version)

Gauntlet:

tempImagerSdPcy.jpg

Close up of leather guard with grey stitchin. Real leather here and not pleather. You can also see on the darts the centre hole where there would have been made on a lathe. Rods between each dart are real metal most likely stainless rods around 3mm diameter (Concept art says 2mm but believe that changed in production by looking at these)

tempImageUMMYbR.jpg

View of inside the gauntlet. You can see of the leather guard was cut to allow for it to take the shape needed. Velcro inside to attach to the undercut.

More interestingly is the electric band you can see which linked to a cord with a finger ring which would have been used to trigger the grapple gun to come out. On this version there are two layers of t track sliders which allows the gauntlet to fully extend to users hand. (This version didn't have the mech that allowed the gun to fold out.

tempImageRJwBWp.jpg

Long spring used to go along both edges of T track as part of the release mech.

Belt straps are smaller and different texture than Grip6 which most people have traditional used. They look more like Ribbed NATO watch straps but have struggled to find ones with 8 ribs. This site has the material with identical texture but only 7 ribs at 30mm 30mm Rib Weave Webbing - Plains

tempImageoEl8rh.jpg

Grapple gun wise, Clip is a separate 3d printed piece (Can see the layer lines) I guess they break a lot so easy to replace on set this way. Again T track and spring behind it. Also note the Hex head bolt that goes through the two parts of the gun (top right) which most 3D files are missing. One half of the gun is a dark grey, top half is black.

tempImagetbWKif.jpg

Bottom of this image is the "trigger" that holds the gun in place on the rail and gets "pulled" down to release the gun down the t track. (Lighting was hard to see everything here even with additional phone touch on it)

Continued:

tempImageFTt6vd.jpg

Here they have used the leather strap from the ring to go through a nylon loop stitched to the suit to help attach the belt to the suit.

tempImageqmAGgL.jpg

Close up of the belt buckle on the suit. You can tell that these are not real Makefast buckles and instead just based on them or very heavily modded. Non of the releases look to be movable and almost likely they cast / 3d printed there own versions to, and got a fab shop to cut the metal parts from stainless.

Chest Plate:

tempImagejUcLV2.jpg

Yet to see anyone make a screen accurate chest plate, the panels are thin and all in sections as you can see the gaps behind them. Allowing for movability on the users chest. You can also see some foam backing and also the clip that goes to the snap fastener we have seen attached to the flight suit in the behind the screens photos / making of.

Bat time:

Close up of the watch and also glove.

Pouch and speed loader:

tempImage4WSsc0.jpg

Bicep:
tempImagetAhRKl.jpg

Here you can see the layers of material that build up the bicep, the stitching and then how the 'armor' panels are wrapped and then glued on.

IMG_3565.PNG

Close up of stitching on shoulder bell.

tempImagekHpLs1.jpg

Interesting here you can see the weathering. Over the whole bell they have most likely applied a brown / dirt coloured ink and then misted isopropyl over it which gives it a water stained effect: (Great video here on this:
) Also standard bits of damage applied and 'silver' paint applied around the edges to give it a worn look.

Look how the level of detail to everything even the injector that you see for 2 secs have parts made on a lathe.

Hope this helps anyone that stumbles back across this thread, or anyone new looking at re creating this amazing suit.

Matt

So we still don't know exactly what baton holders were used on the back of the utility belt? Cause they aren't present on the exhibit belt. But it's cool that we've finally narrowed down the exact speedloader pouches (though I will point out that apparently First Class's pouches are actually from a company called Ryno Gear and are not made-in-house unless First Class Gear and First Class Uniforms are different)

I don't know the exact model however Boston Leather seem to manufacture ones that look identical style wise: Boston Leather

Apologies if this has been posted.

Omaya Sport Rucksack
Just wanted to adjust confirmation on the backpack, although it gets rebadged and multiple brands sell the same bag, I'd previously IDed as Aerling, but it is an Aoking Canvas Sports Rucksack, I believe it's been modified slightly on the back because I can't find an exact match with the exterior pouch. Here's the photo reference:

Hi this is my first time making a batman costume and was wondering what is a good base for the top half of his costume to put all the Armor on to if anyone has any ideas i would love them thanks

Hey,

i know that was already discussed - but due to the new shots from the belt (new angles too), are we sure the "normal" Protec Tactical Smart Phone pouch was used and not the XL one?

Normal: Protec Tactical Smart Phone pouch
XL: Protec XL Smart Phone pouch

And for the Anker 510 do we have any backshots from it due to the new pictures from the exhibition? I just want to be 100% sure to buy the right ones - there is something like 510-3 on the back? I think that stands for Option/Size 3 on the Aker page = DoubleStack 9mm/40.?

Thanks guys =)

The phone pouch is slightly smaller than expected, the Aker slightly larger. There's no way to see the back of the Aker pouch and I'm pretty sure it was re-mounted with custom straps. At a guess, the phone pouch is somewhere similar to the width of the buckle, so somewhere around 70-80mm width and judging from it being a 50mm belt, I'd say the pouch is at least 150mm tall. Those guesses lean towards the XL but as I said, in person it looks smaller than expected. The only visible tag is the First Class Gear tag on the speedloader pouches. I've attached photos I've taken that get the closest to the info you're looking for as well as a video walk around, can't do any better than that unless you manage to actually get your hands on it.

I posted this image a couple years ago in one of the facebook groups when the Protec was first discovered (I bought both to verify). You can see the Normal and XL on a standard 2.25" Duty Belt (I believe it was a Safety Speed... not accurate).

By my scaling, the Normal is correct, but I've been wrong before.

Thanks for your help, additional information about the parts. That’s very helpful.

Regarding the Aker 510 - can someone say what the numbers behind the 510 at the back of the pouch means? 510-1, 510-2, 510-3?

Thanks!

This is available on the Aker website...

Also, this is not me indicating that the -1 is what was used on screen or not, I have no idea. It's just the first option highlighted when you open the selection pane.
