The Mohawk Grenade; PROVEN BY SCIENCE, FOO'S!! (new pics page 2)

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

Our prop was based on the game. We had half of the Grenade and the spoon grown. I then cleaned up the parts added the nicks and dings to the grenade made a mold and then cast 2 halves for each grenade (we made 3 total). The spoon was a bit more work. The design got changed after we got the part. So I had to add a lot more detail, make a mold and then cast up the parts. I cut the octagonal rings on our laser cutter.

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

Ah, I was wondering about the ring. It looked like nothing "found" I could think of. I was thinking about cutting a large flat washer to shape(I don't have a laser cutter :) ), but it will be easier to do it in plastic with a jewelers saw.

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

If you make one, i will buy it.

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

Now if only they'd add night elf mohawks as a playable class...

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

Very cool. Makes me want to dig my grenades out of my bank. :cool

You can. You just fill out the regular character creation stuff, then cross out where it says "Incubator" and write in "Night Elf Mohawk."

:D

Thanks so much for input with this. Excellent!! I'm looking forward to your pics. :)

The grenade and spoon are Smooth-on 320
The octagonal ring is sintra and the small rings are ema tubing(styrene I think).
And the feather are... feathers.

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

at least one of the feathers are from a peacock..

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

ya know, some times I look at making something like that and think "man, I must be crazy". glad I'm not alone :p

very cool swgeek!

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

I decided that foam was not working for me and fell back on wood.

This is just a test to see if it works at all. Not to scale, all freehand on a band saw. I was pleased with everything except the bevels between frags on the same level. They are not open enough and getting them even top to bottom was tough. Need to make some jigs for all the bevels

It worked pretty good. So, if I ever get a rain free day off and can get my table saw out to cut each layer to the correct thickness, I will have a go at doing it right.

Re: Awesomeness in motion: The Mohawk Grenade...

@swgeek; thank SO much for those most excellent pics!! Just wow!! ...you had mentioned that there were three made from the molds. Is it even safe for me to ask if it would be possible to make a few *ahem* ...additional mohawk bombs??? :love

@fuelish; that's pretty dern good for freestyling on a bandsaw. Trust me. I know. Keep us posted! I think you are on it. :)

You're welcome. I don't think my boss would let me, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm not a WoW player or fan, but I have to admit that's a cool looking prop - the pictures provided by swgeek are great and that spoon looks awesome.
