I never liked how some people call the Bond movies a "male fantasy" series. And I still need to see Atomic Blonde. But has anyone really considered how bad a gender flipped Bond would be in pretty much all the James Bond movies?

Start off flipping the roles from the beginning with Dr. No and From Russia with Love. When you think about it none of it will make a good movie. It gets worse when you start flipping the male / female roles in Goldfinger, Thunderball, and You Only Live Twice.

I think we know that the people who want that have never seen any of those movies.

Besides, their female James Bond would just be a guy with breasts, like all of the modern female action heroes.

You hit the nail on the head with this actor. Speaks English, German and is good at imitating other languages. He has that German demeanor; looks good in suits and can have a very threatening behavior.

Yes I think he would be awesome as bond. And he could be funny as well, without losing the Bond edge. It will never happen of course. Hollyweird is too woke to give us a Mans, man as Bond. We'll probably get a black, quadriplegic, transsexual as 007, ; )

He's too old for the role now (at least, if you want him in more than, like, 2 films max). But yeah, that whole sequence in First Class is fantastic. He's vintage Bond there, a la Dr. No era. Cold, ruthless, and collected. You could easily see him delivering the classic "That's a Smith & Wesson. And you've had your six." scene.

Heck, I'd be happy for even a one off with him. Like George Lazenby. But like I say, they won't do it. It's too good of an idea. Hollywood doesn't do good too much anymore, ; ) With a few exceptions. Maybe that's a good thing. It makes the few exceptions even better. I think that AI tools are gonna make Hollywood obsolete. Individuals are already making better films, with new and original ideas. The graphic tools make it possible to meet or exceed the quality of Hollywood films. I remember seeing the Ryan vs Dorkman lightsaber duel many moons ago. To me it was better than most of the fights in the actual movies. That was 14 + years ago. I don't think Hollywood will ever go away, but I think it will shrink, as more independent groups take more and more of their market share. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

That scene and the Magneto theme are the 2 best things about First Class.

Fassbender would make a great Bond or Thrawn…..

He was Bond-like in Haywire, except that he got clipped by another Spook.

He is great in everything:

Going over the list of all the Bond films, I think I've only seen like 7 of them all the way through. Others I had seen parts. I remember as a young teen, they would show Octopussy and Moonraker a lot. Now that I think about it, maybe I've not even seen all of Moonraker. Not even sure. The last Bond film I saw was Casino Royale.
My favorite has always been Goldeneye, although, its probably more due to the N64 game. When I was in high school and learning all about editing, I made this, going back and forth between the game and movie. Four years ago I had found it on a VHS tape. Captured it and uploaded it as is.

Skyfall still has that Russian guy playing James Bond.... Oh wait. He's British. He just looks like a Russian bad guy.

I still say Sean Bean should have been 007 instead of Brosnan. I miss Dalton too. Goldeneye was written for him and he said he had planned to do at least three Bond films, but it got massively delayed because United Artist was sold. By then Dalton had signed onto The Rocketeer and passed on a 3rd movie.

Cubby told him that because of the long break since LTK, he didn't want Dalton coming back for just one movie—that Dalton would need to commit to several more to help re-start/re-establish the character. Dalton declined to commit to multiple movies, and instead announced his retirement from the role.

I feel like today they might have done the opposite. If Bond had been parked for several years after 'Skyfall' and they were just restarting it now, they would WANT Daniel Craig back for one more final appearance. Modern Hollywood is so risk-averse.

The way I read the Craig interviews he wasn't crazy about coming back, but they kept talking him into it, knowing they probably wouldn't make one without him as starting over right now might cause them some grief on both ends of the spectrum no matter whom they picked as some people are never happy and wish to force their personal misery on everyone else so we can all be one miserable family together. God, I miss the 1980s...
