Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life - ORB -

Thought it would be better to post my progress in this thread than to make a new one and repost all the picture.

This started with a old toy of mine: The America gladiators Cage game.

It's a plastic ball that you place your gladiators inside and then compete agains the next one.
The ball hade a outer rim around it (to look like the cage) but i filled it all up with bondo and sanded smooth.
I can still take the ball apart but soon i will glue them together and make all the little holes into it with my dremel.

I have yet no idee on how to make the crystal inside the orb
I also would like to have tips on how to get the Amber colour on the resin.

food coloring should work well with clear resin... also you could do a smaller orb and smash it with a hammer, glue it back together and put that inside the new orb!

yeah, but im not sure that there is a orb inside the orb.
This picture made me think that its a crystal inside.

Also the pictures i posted in Post #19 looks like there is suppost to be a crystal.

The triangle was on ebay days ago... And I remember that someone drom here make a run of triangles some time ago...

Next month I get my TR Holster and two guns for my new display, and another prop from TR next to it would look beautiful...

Edit: After I saw the lara croft dummie from the collection of houdini a lifesize costume would be nice, too... Any ideas where I can get a wig?!? So much to do, and less time to make everything...

Could you tell me where will you get the holsters & guns? Thanks.

hope you dont mind me dragging this up. I know the last post was April, but I'm really interested in anything TR related. And the orb is one of those instantly recognisable relic pieces.

allosaur176 did you ever get around to etching the dots in?

how did you finish yours in the end contec. Last post said you were still looking at perfecting the middle crystal part.

I tel you what the crystal reminds me off. Solar flares. Looking at the images you posted up I was struck by the similarities.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to help you out. sorry.

being not a maker of things - and only a buyer I don't want to overstep my bounds...

buuut... I was thinking that you guys could attempt to make this similar to those amber Sankara stones.

I mean - the color is pretty good - the cracks in it are pretty good. and if you just did this in sphere form and added the black dots I think you'd have a very good replica.
