Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP - New Pics and Video on Pg. 5

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

what's the dimensions? reason I ask- if I had one, I'd drop the "has a heart" piece and install it into my TMP chest armor. I'd have to double check, but I think the opening is 3 3/4".

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

Without the housing, it is 3.5", with the housing it is a bit under 4".
The outer diameter of the "Proof" sign is 5" and the height of the housing is 1".

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

Here's more progress.
I used a bit of artistic license for the fins, since the only scenes I could find this is when Tony Stark breaks the display case and the arc reactor falls out.
I had to cut 22 individual fins and the three different levels. I'm sure there is a found part for this, but I haven't found it yet.
My dad also hooked me up and made me an acrylic case, but I have to make my own base.
I still need to scratch build the tube that connects the arc to the base, and of course the lighs :D

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

Very cool indeed. I'm also very much interested in the progress of this, as I'm also working on a TMP costume just as decaturvader.

Hope you'll be able to help us out when you're done with yours.

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

Thanks guys!
Here's the latest on this. I still have to paint the vent areas and add the soldered gold wire. I'm still getting the lights together, but that should be pretty easy. . . I hope :D.

I placed a silver ring, which I may add to or replace the silver center rings with.

More to come.

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

very cool! i was going to attempt at making an arc reactor, but dont think i could make it anywhere near as good as that

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

NICE!

What have you made the main body out of?

If you mean the housing part that encases the arc reactor, it's made from a 1" cutting board plastic (don't know the actual name:)). It's real dense and tough.

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

Thanks again!

Here's where I'm at today:

I routed the base for the acrylic case, made the tube stand and temporarily attached everything with elmer's glue for the picture.
I have all the LEDs ready for the light and should be installing it this week.

Re: Vash's Mark I Arc Reactor attempt WIP

Finally revisited this project a few days ago and reworked the rear cooling fins.

Still haven't installed the electronics, since I wasn't sure if I wanted battery or plug-in power for this piece.

I also reworked the inner circle of the front of the arc with all the little oval cut outs since for some reason one side only had seven holes while the other two had the right amount of 8.

And here is the new center ring with the screws, the two middle rings are chromed:
