Warehouse 13 - Claudia's (Farnsworth's) Farnsworth

...

In fact I think all of the decorative swirls have been made from copper wire.

Really? I think they really are engraved. You can´t see them overlapping, which would result in an additional height of those ornaments, and they are almost all the same, indicating the same graphic has been used on all of them. Another gripe of mine that the one in the vertical center to the right is the same as the longer ones in the corners of the lid

Re: Farnsworth's Farnsworth! Spoiler

Funny thing. I thought exactly the same thing when I saw it. The prop guy saw the work on the RPF and said "OK you buggers, copy this one."

I'm assuming this one was the Farnsworth prototype with a higher gain antenna and personal flourishes. Can you imagine these props tolerating the daily abuse of filming the show? Too many pretty bits and shiny parts to fall off or get lost or damaged. SO they decided on a simpler "day-to-day" version for the show.

Why do I think that someone making the show saw the threads here and are ****ing with us?

Like, oh sure, try this one.

That would be awesome.

ill have to admit, i dont like it half as much as the first one... it would look sooooo much better without the flourishes... but ill have to agree, they look engraved. Which makes this really difficult, because that means engraving the inside of the case...

tell me this doesnt look better..

hmm... possibly not engraved, if engraved, youd still see the lines when the inside cover is reflecting light like this.

I'm not diggin this one like the first.

The wires on the left look to me like copper wire, the rubber hose looks like thin latex hose going into aluminum rivets. The clear part near the bottom looks like a clear LED. The 2 "jacks" on the side look like brass shoestring eyelets. Looks like they used the same eyelets on the top antenna except mounted up sidedown and slightly filed down.

I think the connector on the rubber hose is just a little dowel/ rod inserted into the hose. (wood or possibly plastic)

The image you posted with the light reflecting off of the inner cover has me even more convinced that the brass design embellishments are indeed submerged in some kin of clear resin..

i seriously think if i replicated this i would do away with the embelishments...i really dont like them one bit..makes it look like a teenage girl doodled all over it.

Heh... I was thinking it was Artie's Bedazzeler or whatever he used to make Claudia's bracelet in the episode with the gooery.

Is it me or did they go with the plastic Wheatey box this time around? The walls on that thing are thick as heck.

What if its something simple as a clear plexi piece over a engraved piece? It would look the same.

The 2 antena on the top look like tire valves, either metal or rubber, with the threading sanded off. The one on the right looks like it has the valve stem unscrewed and sticking up out of the top

I think this is the box used. Wheatley Model 7100 but the 6 " version. This is the 3" version.

It looks like this 6" model 8109 but 8109 has the foam.

Looking at the squiggly motifs you can see that it is wire, look closely and you can see where they go over each other also the copper wires are smashed flat where they join the cup thingy.

The ends of the gold wires also look like they where made with needle nose pliers.

Yeah, I think it´s really flat wire or something like that :\ But they do not look like done by hand, they are too accurate for that, I´d say. Maybe they were photoetched ?

and considering the wording "Farnsworth" looks the same as the scroll work, i doubt that was done by hand.. im still not sure on it being wire, considering the font wording is so perfect..and the corners of the letters are not rounded, like if it were bent wire. looks engraved.
