Hey guys, thought I would share my Magneto First Class Helmet Build.
I got the pep file from google. Not sure who owns it, please help me identify so I can credit the author.
I started the build last September 2013, and due to work schedules, I had to put this to a halt, but now I'm continuing it.
Here is the fiberglass resin and cloth that I'm using
The left R10-103 has a tacky finish. The left one is R10-60 which doesn't have a tacky finish when dried. The small one is the hardener. The guy from the shop (Polymer Product Philippines) told me to put 1-3% hardener per resin depending on the weather (more if it's cold so it would harden quickly). Right pic is the fiberglass mat.
I decided to make 2 helmets. The right one is already resined, the left is still in paper form.
Fiberglassed one helmet.
This is the other helmet, using only rondo after resin (no fiberglass cloth).
OK, this is actually my first fiberglass project. So as you can see, I suck at applying body filler (I'm using a local brand, Bronco).
This is the Fiberglassed helmet. Took days to sand smooth. I'm sanding manually, with a block of wood. Started with 60grit. For some reason I can't find any 40 here in the Philippines. And yeah, I'm on a budget that's why I didn't buy any sander. Anyone in the Philippines who can lend me one, please PM me, hehehe.
For the Rondo'd only helmet, I Rondo'd the outside too. I know it's crazy, but I got frustrated with sanding, and I saw someone from 405th do this, that's why I gave it a shot.
Here are the two helmets side by side.
And a close up view of each. Left one is the one with fiberglass cloth+bodyfiller, right one is the rondo only.
I'm still sanding the left one with 60grit. The right one with 120 grit since the rondo is already smooth.
Got some holes on the rondo for I don't know what reason.
I'll be posting pics from time to time. Or if I go up a notch in sandpaper grits. lol.
