This listing is for a genuine shard of a Woolly Mammoth tusk. This is between 10,000 - 30,000 years old, and it was discovered in Siberia. This is an interesting artifact because it's not fossilized, but rather preserved. When this mammoth died, its body was locked into the permafrost, until it gradually became encased in ice. As global temperatures continue to rise, the Siberian ice is receding, and this mammoth was eventually brought back to the surface. Unlike fossilization (where organic matter is slowly replaced by stony minerals), this is genuine bone.
This was legally exported and sold by Arctic Antiques GmbH, a German company specializing in Mammoth artifacts. I've added a few photos of their documentation to provide provenance.
