I find this subject so amusing... If you have and can read some of the old publications they the (model builders) all state the models were primed in black and were hit in an automotive white before dirtying down. As can be seen by the Escape pod, ISD, X-wings in some form from era pictures! The ISD still shows some black where parts have fallen off over the years... It's a white model... Seen it several times in person in exhibits!! Also the ANH falcon!! And the Y's.
