My Vektor CP1

While I have focused on making Star Wars stuff, one of my friends needed a CP1 for his PeaceKeeper Hunger Games costume so I figured it would be a good time to learn how to cast stuff. This is my first one out of the mold. I am working on another mold as well as looking at pics for other shows it was used in. This one is cast in Task 16 and I have some Smooth cast 305 coming to make a more rigid one.

The black one is a real Vektor. Unfortunately it is now filled with silicone cause I didn't seal the entire thing up. The casting turned out nice with a ton of detail. There were some air bubbles that I need to correct as well as redoing the inside of the barrel and where the spent casing ejects.

Yeah, that's why I have never cast up any of my guns. I believe hornady makes a sonic cleaner that will remove most of the silicone though. You just submerge the gun, close the lid, turn it on, and it does all the work. Or so the ads claim. Good luck on getting her cleaned up though.

The casting looks great. I've bought a lot worse!

Once I make the second mold and am happy with it, I will disassemble the gun and clean it up. I don't think the silicone will hurt it any. I may actually cast the pieces once apart in case people just want the lower for the 5th Element gun. And thanks! I was a bit intimidated to try this but am glad I did. I am happy with it as my first try and the second will be even better. I am building a Super Trooper Boba Fett and will be casting a bunch of the parts specific to that costume as well - mostly so I don't risk breaking/losing the original pieces I have tracked down.

I def is unique looking and would be a great carry pistol if it didn't have a rep of going off on its own lol.

Thanks Bad Wolf!

And dhunpael , it is somewhat "rare " in the U.S. With a very limited market since is supposedly liked to go off if dropped. A lot of them were bought back at higher than retail prices by the manufacturer.

I'm going to try and see if it's possible to get one in Europe. I realy like the design of the gun.
But i'll have to see, since the law surrounding weapons is a disaster in Belgium :'(

From what I read they were sold in Italy. I saw some for sale in countries over the but didn't recognize the languages ( since I only know English lol). Gun laws are tough and I have been trying to read up on what I need to do to sell these. I definitely won't be able to sell them out side the U.S. Unfortunately .

I cast one in black Task 16. I am going to do them in 305 after I make a new mold. I am hoping to get some feedback on what flaws are acceptable for when I start making these - I don't think anyone offers cast ones from what I can tell.

I want to put a smooth ear plug further in the barrel to eliminate the nub sticking out. I am also thinking of tapering the bisecting line so that the barrel is complete on one side of the mold vs split in the middle. The discharge part of the slide is a mess so I am just going eliminate the clay from it in the new mold since the gun is pretty much filled with silicone already.

This is the 3rd one I made and while I don't think it looks horrible there are some small pin hole type air bubbles. Humidity was 47 and temp 70 where I cast it. I used spray on Ease Release 200 and waited about 20 minutes after spraying it . Thanks for any help possible !

Well you could try talking to Matsuo or Johnson Arms, they cast firearms and firearm-like props regularly.

After casting some in 305 and 16, I think the 16 captures the details better. And after a few paint tests I think Duplicolor spray paint is the best even on the Task 16

Looks good mate..

The Vector was a South African firearm produced up until about 2005 I think.
There are many cases reported of it being unreliable and I was clearly fortunate because I never found it to be a problem.

Thanks! And I didn't get to shoot the real one yet and may never get to since I seem to have filled it with silicone. I am going to Reynolds Advance Materials to buy more smooth on stuff as well as stuff to do Joker scars. I am bringing the cast gun with to gets some tips on making it perfect and any advice they have to offer. Their store looks pretty cool online so it should be a nice trip. Next week I will make the mold and hopefully it is better. I didn't clear any of these paints and find it scratched of pretty easy which obviously isn't good. Will try some Plasticote since that is what smooth on recommends

Are you washing the resin casts before you paint them? Are you priming them before you paint them?
