I got outside today and did a little work as I get ready for the epoxy on Tuesday
I placed the black tape along the edges and joints.
if my brother comes over this weekend he will help me turn the monolith over so i can sand and tape that other side too.

once that is done it will be time to do the black epoxy coats, then raise it up and cement it into position

I tried to put the plastic corner bead on, but I removed it as I did not like what it was doing there, and I dont think I will need it...

Im still looking at painting stars on the black walls of the monolith...we shall see how that goes...

Im getting ready to paint on a primer.
So I think I better fix all the nail holes so that everything is flat.
I will do the one side I can reach.

Not cloud in the sky today, , its a bit chilly, but its nice not to see rain or snow.

When the drywall patch stuff is hard I will use the finish palm sander and make everything nice

It’s looking good! You have some beautiful property, btw. What an amazing view!

painted the exposed side with the black primer.

there are still a bunch of marks in the wood that I did not catch.
But I think I will let the primer dry fully, that deal with them.

I also guess that the epoxy will be about a 1/16" thick, so it should cover many sins.

I will deal with this side, then when Im happy I have to call some friends to come over and help me flip it so I can finish priming the other side.

But the primer does give me an idea of the look of the finished Monolith

Time to flip it over.
Im unable to find anyone who is free to come help me, so this will be a solo effort...

Well,,,,that almost killed me to do alone.

now to move the little trailers around to the other side and push the monolith all the way over without ......problems...

it almost made it onto the trailers...

Now its sitting a bit odd,

I braced it for now with a bit of stump, and so I think its close enough to start work on this side

I have added the drywall mud to fill in any gaps.
Let that dry now, then sand, and then tape, and then paint with the primer and Im done for today

Time to paint on the primer!

this is the way the monolith will look to people walking up to it...

I now just will allow the primer to fully dry, and then cover it up on the chance it rains or snows again..
I should be able to let this fully dry now for about 3 days before I start the epoxy coats...

today was a big day for me as I had nice weather for the first time since I started this project.
I must admit, for a moment today when I was attempting to flip the monolith over I was thinking this was a BAD IDEA...

But, i lived.

Not bad for a guy closer to 70 than he is to 60....

I love the step by step posts/updates. I half expected you would post a pic from trapped beneath the half flipped monolith. So, just to make sure.... you have cell coverage out their, ya?
