‘The Rocketeer’ returns to El Capitan with cast and crew

About flipping time dude! :thumbsup

For those unfamiliar with Grimtrooper he's a good friend of mine and shop buddy who's actively involved in the Southern California Garrison and is our resident guru here for all things pertaining to old mouse ears. Finally convinced him to hop on the boards now get busy meeting some RPFers and taking photos.

A good friend of mine will be there wearing a pepakura based helmet and jetpack he commissioned me to build. are you going to be there in costume?

So here's a few pics I took on my crappy camera.

One of you guys must have a iPhone or something.

Aren't we supposed be all media oriented now?

Somebody ought to be twittering or something like that from the event... right?

Where are all our young bright, connected members?
micdavis,
They made us turn off our cell phones before we entered the El Capitan, and we were instructed to keep them off until after the post-panel surprise. Numerous security personnel monitored the theatre, and director Joe Johnston threatened to sic Tiny Ron (aka Lothar) on anyone who didn't comply. :eek

Kevin Smith did an okay job as moderator for the Q&A. Aside from his penchant for self-promotion, he kept his comments PG-13--only two F-bombs, possibly a new record for him. Because the event started late, Smith was told to keep the panel short; there was only time for one audience question. :thumbsdown

The post-panel surprise was the new Captain America trailer, the same one that premiered at the Hero Complex Film Festival two weekends ago. :cool

I'll post a handful of pics later today.

What an amazing night. Words cannot describe how much fun I had. Saw ton of RPf members. I came home to find out my internet has been down all day so no posting pics tonight. Using my phone to post. I couldn't keep rpf or Facebook updated I shut off my phone early and went around Charing with a few finheads and RPf members.
I'll post more tomorow. Need to sleep and go to work.

On a side note, I took the first rough draft rocketeer production script. Billy Campbell. Tiny Ron. Paul de meo. Rick baker. Joe Johnson. Danny bilson. Signed it.

They were are very friendly. Some question where i got the script hahaha. Paul de neo was excited to see it cause it has the Uboat ending

Rob and Lonnie expect an email from me soon. I got some goodies. Or pm here. Will be easier

Also. I may have an extra rocketeer 20th anniversary poster up for sale. Same price I paid at the event. I think I may have 1 extra only.

It'a 3am and I JUST got home to San Diego.... and headin' to bed! Had a GREAT TIME! I hung out with ER most of the time, but bumped into other fellow Finheads Rocketbobs and Clint aka ACME. Nice to finally meet those 2. Talked to Mike M. from HMS a bit, nice pack btw :)

I'll posts pix as soon as I can.

The film, which was a BRAND spankin' new Digital Print = AWESOME! I did notice a few things they cleaned up, I couldn't see the cable pulling the crashing Gee-Bee in the beginning, also I noticed the audio track was a bit louder and possible updated sound FX, don't remember the sword scene having that loud of sword strikes. Overall... AMAZING though!

OH! And I got one of my Control Gauntlets signed by Bill Campbell!!! And picture with Tiny Ron!

I hope we'll get to see this with an awesome Rocketeer blu-ray release! (Pretty please, Disney. :))

There was a subtle hint from the head of D23 that the Blu-Ray is coming, I have another source that backs that up too.

Also, did anyone else see Thomas Jane at the prop exhibit? He had a Master Replicas Rocketeer Helmet and a Rocketeer t-shirt on. As we were leaving, he took the stairs to the 2nd floor to go to a party.

What all was talked about by the panel? Is that Rocketeer: Excitement in the Air playing in the background?

Paul de neo was excited to see it cause it has the Uboat ending
That was the ending William Dear wanted to do, but they didn't like it. The preferred ending they did was when Cliff's flyer buddies flew along with him to take down the zeppelin.

Great pictures! A big thanks to Jeff who texted me some pics during the event! Really wish I could have been there, but am glad that some of my friends were able to make it.

Hope to get a full report after you guys get some rest!
