Limited Run Aladdin's Flying Carpet: Run Ended

Re: Aladdin's Flying Carpet: Now with pictures!

By the way, will the carpet be printed on both sides? x)
The sample isn't, and it's still not clear if they'll be able to do a double sided version. From what I've learned in this project, the only double sided rugs that exist are the geometric pattern tapestry style rugs. And even then, the back doesn't look like the front. So the only way to do a double sided one is to make two, and then bind them together somehow.

Re: Aladdin's Flying Carpet: Now with pictures!

Ok, the rug sample arrived on Thursday, but since I had a booth at Salt Lake Comic Con I didn't have time to do anything about it until today.

Anyway, more pictures. SEE THE NEXT POST ABOUT THE COLORS!

He sent this when I asked about it:

He explained that he meant to tell them to use the puff color on the left, but instead accidentally told them the one on the right. However he assured me that the correct one would be used on the finals.

Aside from the purple/burgundy color change, a few other small things will be altered as well. I will try to get a slightly more purple color for the background and swirls, and as EmmaInCandyland pointed out, I think the outer rim background needs to be even more purple.

Most importantly though is I will try to get them to be a lot more careful on some aspects of the design, especially the tigers' faces and the corner decorative pieces, which I don't think are good enough. I'll try to have the tassels match the gold, too.

Ok, I kept coming back and looking at those photos above because I don't like any of them. The colors are wrong in all of them, and I realized why: my phone camera was auto changing the colors more blue. Like, a LOT more blue. So I added a bottle of paint that's actually a light blue, and let it adjust to that, so here's a photo that shows the ACTUAL colors on this thing.

Here's a comparison shot of my design colors vs what's on the rug.

Thanks for the update! Glad to know you're making this the best Carpet I've ever seen! :thumbsup

Re: Aladdin's Flying Carpet: New pics added Sept. 5

Ok, so I'm having a new sample made. It will have the fixed colors, and should have more accurate details, like the tiger faces. Unfortunately China has some holidays coming up, and that'll add some delays. But the guy thinks the new sample can be done in about 2 1/2 weeks.

Also, I checked on some shipping info. Looks like in the US shipping will be around $25. Outside it however is more, and a bit variable. I asked for the shipping cost for Japan just as an example, because it's far and usually has about the highest shipping cost, and it came out to about $115.

So for international, I'll get individual pricing info for people so it can be accurate.

Re: Aladdin's Flying Carpet: New pics added Sept. 5

Ok, small update. The new sample (colors fixed, and some design elements fixed) is being worked on. They should have just finished dyeing the yarn yesterday (the samples are both wool). From what I can tell of the outline drawing guide they are doing a better job on following the pattern.

Also I've added an actual interest list to the first post now. If you want to get on it, you still can! Once this new sample is finished I hope to nail down the exact price and start getting things moving.

Re: Aladdin's Flying Carpet: New pics added Sept. 5

New pictures in the first post, replacing the old prototype pictures.

The colors look much better, the design is more accurate! I think I'll have them go back to the thicker gold border like the first prototype, and one or two other tiny changes here and there, but they are all very little things that would likely escape notice even if they were ignored :D

I'm looking into the finalized costs to try to figure out just how much they will be. It's tricky with the shipping costs because the total cost depends on how many orders there are, and the number of orders will depend on how much they cost... I'll try to get my best guess in!

Re: Aladdin's Flying Carpet: Several new pics added Sept. 22
