Anyone got a working DS gun? Let's see it!

Here is a cap where it looks like the terminal is showing although my eyes are drawn to the lovely Jenny Agutter so much I am not sure.

And here is a shot of the TV version. Can't tell if the slot is there or not.

If that's a real terminal then he's pointing a real flamer right in her face;-)

Good pic...good eye. You'd think they'd use a stunt for a shot like that wouldn't you?.

Notice the hole where the toggle once was on the movie version. The glow-plug switch was moved to the back of the gun and swapped out for a push button on the TV replicas.

I never cared for the TV version. I always liked the toggle up front and the fin and grips just the way they were. :p

Yes, the TV version had the slots too. Some had exposed terminals.

Whoa.

Cool pix guys.

DrStrangelove, Eyes Only, Brak's Buddy, The Watchman, Rylo, thanks for the pix. Very cool. I am green with envy.

Eyes Only, I think I may have seen this video before on the web some time ago. Had you posted it before somewhere other than RPF? The deep flash sound is pretty dang cool.

I recently got my hands on an aluminum kit of the DS gun off ebay, really sweet. I'm slowly assembling (what assembly is required) it, and I totally get my geek on just holding it. Dunno who makes the kits though.

Amish, thank you for the welcome. I'll check out the junkyard. Thanks for the tip.

Also Rylo thanks for the info on that blue plug, I often wondered about that.

If you bought the kit I am thinking of, then the 'GURU' himself made it. :p :D

A beautiful kit it is. :thumbsup

Really? It came in a nice vacuformed tray that held the pieces. It's all aluminum (sweet) with resin grips. The reservoir in the back is removable, and even has a rubber gasket (sweet). The trigger is movable and it comes with all these little tchotchky switches and stuff (sweet)

Who is this famed GURU?

My thanks to whoever they are for building cool gear for my inner child.

Mine was made by DS-Props who made a few and then vanished in to OutBack air.

Very well made items too.

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it.

Hey Guru, I think I may have one of your non-functional DS guns- If so, thank you for the amazing work.

You're one of the lucky ones then Doc. Apparently, as has happened to many well intentioned prop makers, the guys making the DS-Props version got so many orders and fell so far behind that they just disappeared with everyone's money rather than stop taking orders and get caught up. Unless that was their intention from the beginning but I doubt it... as you said, the DS version was much better than anything out at the time. Currently the version Guru has done is flat out the best one out there, hands down. Nothing static, electric or otherwise comes close to it.

Hi all.

I had the DS version and I have the GURU version. The DS version was a little longer. It was based and worked exactly as the movie gun....practically the same valve system. So, with the age and use of it, you can imagine the risks...

The GURU model works with a completely new and improved valve system. More safe and durable.....I think .. We must only take care of the paint wich is a little fragile.

In all cases, it's always a great pleasure to fire this gun and to hear this caracteristic sound...I love it.

Thanks again to the GURU and his machinists.

Does the Gun Guru still make these kits? Are they for sale?

:) :) :)

???

No, unfortunately... keep your eyes out in the Junk Yard and as noted above, you might see one pop up on Ebay every once and awhile.

WhatÂ’s even funnier is that if you look close the toggle switch is in the on position for a movie gun so if the battery is charged the glow plug is hot.

i don't believe the GURU is making these anymore.

:(

I've got one of the Wilco. resin kits, that one day I'll build. I'm just not daring enough to make it into a working model. :(

I know, I'm a lazy prop builder. Someone get Lady Heather to punish me. :love :lol
