Dave Prowse banned from C5 !!

you can't even be a little surprised that LFL isn't interested in helping out a guy who is backstabbing them while making money off of them at the same time... and lets be honest, it isn't like David Prowse not coming to C5 is going to affect the number of people who attend...

im not surprised. but really, it doesnt take a letter from lucas film to say "hey, dave, you're a jerk. we dont want you coming to our functions anymore." that just gives him more to ***** about. ive also heard prowse's a difficult person to deal with anyway. him not appearing wont affect the attendance. they'll still show up and still shill out money.

Every Storm Trooper didn't have their names on the ending credits on the first three films.
this is wrong. at first i was like "wrong! they had to!" but then i remembered this is george lucas we're talking about. usually extras are included in credits, and i dont recall seeing any of them. would they be in stunts? thats anotehr place where troop types are thrown. so, my "this is wrong" is more on the moral side.

and even if they were, for them to claim residuals would be stupid. "here hold this gun" is different from "alright harrison, just say what i wanted you to say. and dont say "i know" this time."

It always irked me that he signs every autograph with, Dave Prowse IS THE DARTH VADER! I always think Dave Prowse IS ONE OF SEVERAL DARTH VADERS as well as James Earl Jones, Sebastian Shaw, Christian Haydensen, the stunt man/men... To me, Darth Vader is as much James Earl Jones.

Frankly, I think what MAKES Vader is James EJ. Prowse's finger pointing at Leia and so forth is a little corny. Not that any big guy in a suit could do it, but...the guy was a weightlifter, not Ian McDiarmid.

Regardless of right and wrong, you don't publically call out your employer. If you want to do Lucas shows, don't insult Lucas. Seems obvious.

Nooooo David Prowse...noooooo money for you!

*I love this GL image, I may just have to post it in every thread henceforth:)

Right or wrong, you don't speak negatively about the hosts if you want them to invite you to their party. It shouldn't be a surprise.

Even though JEJs voice is DV i think of him as the least DV. All he did was sit in a recording studio and read a script. Prowse WAS DV. When you look at the screen you are not seeing JEJ you see Prowse.

What does Prowses comments have to do with whether LFl owes him money or not? Either they do or not. He can say anything he wants and it has nothing to do with finances.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the same thing go for Antony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew that are in the same boat? Aren't they making residuals? These guys were also in "suits" , no face and no voice.

A. Daniels is the only one of the group who should get anything. it was HIS voice that made 3PO afterall. kenny baker turned some nobs inside a trash can, and peter mayhew did the same thing prowse did.
their residuals are their profits made from their autograph sales. LFL doesnt go after them for using the likeness of vader, chewbacca, and R2.... which they do.

This really comes as no surprise. It is foolish for Dave to disclose confidential communication to him from Lucasfilm, especially in an interview of all things. He has no business sense or sense of tact. One would think that he would have learned by now that complaining about something in regard to Lucasfilm will only alienate himself from them.

During an interview with Equity Magazine, David Prowse, the actor who played (but didn’t voice) Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, claims that LucasFilm has yet to pay him any residual payments on Return of the Jedi because the the film has yet to make a profit.
“I get these occasional letters from Lucasfilm saying that we regret to inform you that as Return of the Jedi has never gone into profit, we’ve got nothing to send you. Now here we’re talking about one of the biggest releases of all time,” said Prowse. “I don’t want to look like I’m bitching about it,” he said, “but on the other hand, if there’s a pot of gold somewhere that I ought to be having a share of, I would like to see it.”

I feel sorry for the fans, but it was Dave's own doing. If he was so confident he should get a share, he should have put his money to work with legal representation to that effect instead of complaining to a magazine interviewer. He is not only representing the Star Wars universe, he represents the production and LFL as well in continuing to serve the fans as a persona of Darth Vader. So he cannot do that and complain about getting more money at the same time.

Simply put, if his contract calls for royalties and they're trying to use a total BS line that ROTJ hasn't made a profit - they should have their butts hauled into court.

Now, if he is currently getting checks for SW and ESB, then, maybe you keep it to yourself and between lawyers.

I don't know if anyone read the comments at the end of the article...

This one really cracked me up!

I hope Dave does go there anyway. Just so Lucas can say
"You should never have returned old man".
:lol:lol

So is an animated character the voice actor or the artist? I get what you're saying, but to me, since you can't see a human face on Vader, the voice is what makes him "real."

I don't think it's the same. Half the time you can substitute most voices with other voices. What made Vader real to me was not really his voice. It was his stance, his walk, his death grip, his mechanical breathing and just the way he carried himself. Vader didn't need to say anything to know he was a Badarse. Just look at the begining of ANH. As soon as he walked through the doors you are like holy **** this guys going to kill someone. Just like many different people could have worn the suit i think there are plenty of voices that would have worked for Vader.

I met Prowse at the Pittsburgh Comiccon, he was charging 10.00 an autograph. Matter of fact he was the only one charging for autographs, he didn't have much of a line and he sure didn't get my cash.

Thats fairly cheap, AND fairly rare that no one else was charging. All celebs charge for an autograph.
