And just any of these actors who did a little job and find they are typecast for life, he wants something for his trouble.
I bet a buck he'll be in town, maybe at the RedRoof, but he'll be there.
* bet only good for the first taker. :lol
I'm tired of hearing Prowse whine about getting his voice replaced. It's been 30+ years, get over it. You don't see Jeremy Bulloch complaining, do you? How about Garrick Hagon? Ever seen him cry in his beer about his role getting cut to almost nothing?
Also, an interesting contrast with Bob Anderson who hasn't sought to capitalize on his own important contribution.

im not surprised. but really, it doesnt take a letter from lucas film to say "hey, dave, you're a jerk. we dont want you coming to our functions anymore." that just gives him more to ***** about. ive also heard prowse's a difficult person to deal with anyway. him not appearing wont affect the attendance. they'll still show up and still shill out money.
this is wrong. at first i was like "wrong! they had to!" but then i remembered this is george lucas we're talking about. usually extras are included in credits, and i dont recall seeing any of them. would they be in stunts? thats anotehr place where troop types are thrown. so, my "this is wrong" is more on the moral side.
and even if they were, for them to claim residuals would be stupid. "here hold this gun" is different from "alright harrison, just say what i wanted you to say. and dont say "i know" this time."
I don't think it's the same. Half the time you can substitute most voices with other voices. What made Vader real to me was not really his voice. It was his stance, his walk, his death grip, his mechanical breathing and just the way he carried himself. Vader didn't need to say anything to know he was a Badarse. Just look at the begining of ANH. As soon as he walked through the doors you are like holy **** this guys going to kill someone. Just like many different people could have worn the suit i think there are plenty of voices that would have worked for Vader.
Extras being listed in the credits? What movies are you watching. That very rarely EVER happens if at all.
yes, but Bob is still working
didn't he choreograph the fights for LOTR
Totally agreed. Not to take anything away from JEJ, his voice was the icing on the cake...Prowse's presence, his walk/gait, the way that he stood and carried himself...THAT is what made Vader impressive. Seeing Hayden in the suit in ROTS, just didn't have the same impact...JEJ's voice was there, but Hayden just couldn't pull it off.....wouldn't have mattered if they took the ANH suit and padded it for him, it just wasn't Vader.
If I were Dave, I'd be pissed too.
I remember meeting Dave in Forbidden Planet in London - back in 1980.
Mark Hamill turned up later on too - but that's a different story.
Dave sat at a table, signing anything anyone put in front of him: 'Dave Prowse is Darth Vader.' I guess back then, he wanted to be known as the guy that brought the physical presence of Vader on screen to life. Remember that Tantive entrance - that look up at the Falcon in the Death Star hanger bay, before walking away - the creep up to admiral whateverhisnameis and then reaching out to choke him?
Oh, and don't forget he actually learnt the lines and spoke them on set.
Anyway - when I met him he said to me, 'Have you seen the film yet?'
'No,' I replied, (this was around a week before it was shown, IIRC) 'not yet.'
'Well you're going to love it, I saw it last night and it's incredible.'
I find it sad how things have changed - neither Dave or George are getting any younger.
I've seen Dave a couple of time since that first encounter - and he still signs 'Dave Prowse is Darth Vader.' I think he's right.
