Dead By Daylight-Trapper Mask

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to make the mask of one of the killers from Dead by Daylight and I kind of have an idea on how to go about it but I'm not sure if it's the right way of making it.
My plan was to build a mold of my own head out of plaster strips, apply oil along the insides of my head mold and pour a good mixture of plaster of paris inside then wait for it to harden. Once hardened I would peel the strips off and have my own head made out of plaster, then I could build the mask on top of my own head bust out of clay or some other material. Let me if you guys can suggest something that i can use to make the mask out of that would be easier because i was thinking monster clay

This project seems a bit ambitious for me but i feel like with some advice and suggestions it can get done before Halloween. I've been working on a bust of my own head with plaster strips and I've created a front and back mold. My problem is I have a box of plaster of paris to pour in to my 2 part head mold but I'm not sure how much plaster to pour in to it or how to even measure the right amount of water to plaster.

personally, unless your planning on making multiples,
i would just heat form a 1/16 in thick sheet of sintra (or other thermoplastic) into the plaster strip mold (maybe reinforce the mold on the outside by smearing some more plaster of paris on it)
then cut out of that formed sheet the face and jaw
and to get the detail a thin layer of magic sculpt epoxy would give that worn smooth bone effect, plus it'd be fairly easy to carve in the cracks and teeth with the magic sculpt

I like this idea ^^^ *Candlecode* but I still want to finish my 2 halves of my head bust so i can have mold to work with on future projects. All I have to do is put more strips along the ends where the 2 parts meet to make it whole. Once theyre joined together I just need to pour a proper mixture of plaster of paris mixture into the hollow head neck hole... the problem is im not sure how much to mix with the water and if the amount i make will be enough to fill up the head.

for the paris Remember that the ratio should be 2 parts powder to 1 part water. If you measured out 1 cup of water , then you would need 2 cups Plaster of Paris powder. Start adding the Plaster of Paris powder to the water in your mixing container by sprinkling or sifting the powder over the water.

and to get the volume for the head mold fill it with sand or dirt then measure how much sand filled the head mold in cups
then divide the total by 3 and use
parts paris and one part water

and when you fill it be sure to wrap the mold in tape or cellophane just in case it leaks

I'll have to try the mixing the plaster next week when i have more time unfortunately , thanks for the advice though I really appreciate it. I just wish i could get more help on this but no one ever helps so that's why I mostly just lurk on this site because everyone has cool projects and sweet finished results but no one ever explains in detail their process or shows their work....

Here is a good tutorial playlist for designing and making halloween masks, mostly out of latex but the techniques are good.
And here is another set of general fabrication tutorials using eva floor mats for costumes

Are these photos of your head that you mentioned in the first post? Why not just get a foam head (or similar) for future use?

Im trying to build a mold of my own head first out of these plaster strips as you see above. I plan on using oil to lather into the insides and mix a proper amount of plaster of Paris to pour inside this head mold so I have my own head bust to use. (I did buy a fake head last year around Halloween and I just didn't like it so I'd rather have my own head bust to use for future projects so I don't have to worry about masks or helmets not fitting.)

Hello again everyone,

So I did a trial run with another duplicate face mold I made and it turned out successful. Earlier today I tried doing my full head mold by pouring plaster into my head mold and then I then realized I was really low on plaster.. Not to mention my plaster/water mixture started to set so it kind of became a mess. I guess its not a complete failure but I was wondering if I went out and bought more plaster and added it into my head mold with the first batch of plaster that's already harden inside my head mold would it combine with the extra plaster???.. I read that some people suggest roughing up the flat part of the plaster so the newer batch can combine with it better... Is this true? Any help on this would be absolutely appreciated.20160909_151845.jpg20160909_151931.jpg

Were you able to make any more progress on this?

thank you for asking i really appreciate it, ive asked for help so many times and people just look and click on something else

I’d go with what Candlecode said: use some thermo plastic (sintra or something) formed over your bust to create a rough template for the mask, then sculpt detail into a layer of something sculpt-able applied over the top.

You did the right thing trying a test of your bust before hitting the real thing, if you don’t feel confident with the mask: do the same again, try some tests and publish your results for others to see, then others can learn from your efforts too. Don’t give up.

I've actually made progress on this my head mold but im still not sure what to make the mask out of.
Ive made a plaster head mold and it actually worked.(Wooooooo!!!)

I plan to add clay on my plaster head mold for the mask(im going to build up clay in the shape of the mask) but im not sure if theres anything i need to put on my plaster head mold before i cover it in clay...
Like should i cover the plaster head in mod podge or woodglue so i can reuse the plaster head again for another project in the future?
