I am reviving this once more. Currently trying to order 2 x Denix's in the UK (think i found some Mk2's ....
I may be pushed for time and may be installing resin scopes and greebs but I want to make sure the base model can be upgraded as I go along with proper parts... This build is BEAUTIFUL.

Has anyone used a file or a really thin saw to cut straight notches where I marked off red on this pic?
that would give the illusion of a separate piece that the real gun has?
jus thinking you could tape off the gun and make small cuts with really really thin saw to give the nubs a "T" look

The slide? It's two pieces pressure fit together. Pry them apart with a small flat head screwdriver.
I remember seeing a guy here who actually cut out the whole hammer assembly like that to make it look like an MGC or a real Mauser. Can't remember what thread it was in but it was awesome.

Mine really doesn't have anything to prise open I don't think? Maybe the MK2 Denix is different?

Yeah, that looks like one piece. I've never seen one like that.

Yes, more recent Denix mausers changed that detail - it's now one solid piece. Boba Debt confirmed this in his recent accurized mauser thread in the Junkyard.

jus sawing/filing the cuts in the pic give the look of a separate piece without the cutting of the whole back off

I've only just noticed this little button at the back of the barrel pops out? What's that meant to be for? Mine kinda clicks forwards and backwards...

Also confirming that this piece does not come apart on the mk2. The Seam lines are not there as it is one single piece of metal.

I was just wondering if you had any tips on how to prevent a Bespin scope/mount from moving back and forth, as it's only a single thread? I use a washer/spacer, which helps a little, but the weight of my M19 scope still makes the whole thing pivot back and forth.

I tried using a separate grub screw underneath the big thumbscrew and the thin wall of the denix still lets it rock a little. maybe 2 or 3 grub screws would help, but thats a small area to drill
I literally went an epoxied it in place and it hasn't moved. not the best solution, but a true prop-makers one
Funny this thread resurfaced. This thread was my open book read while moding my build. Just finished it.
Yes the bracket wants to move on us all. I did turn the bracket down and then turn it into place while tightening the set screw. It worked well however I think a little E6000 would work better.

Yeah, the rotating scope is going to be a problem on these. You can use glue or a small screw under the knurled knob.

Well, so far I've used a thin nut and spring washer inside the mag and it's worked a treat. I'll look into adding a hidden thread under the thumbscrew for a more permanent solution.

Quick question. How did you install the brass grip hardware? On the Denix I have with the wood grips, they are held on with two screws. The brass doesn't work at all.
Did you have to modify them?

I've been thinking about this as I'm half way through a build and know the scope mount with the single screw is very unstable. I seem to remember reading somewhere years ago that the hoth scenes were filmed after the bespin scenes by which time the prop was damaged by continually tightening the single hand wheel, the prop guys took the gun and drilled three holes and bolted the hole thing back together with a disk glued on to cover the central hole. (Maybe this has been debunked now it must be 20 something years since I read it).
I was thinking of using a couple of pins to lock it in place.
