Did you Disneybound Star Wars Style for Galaxy's Edge or Galactic Starcruiser? If so, post your pictures.

I think when they say military clothing, I really think they mean they don’t want you wearing replica uniforms. Say like a imperial officer. Because a basic officer uniform is just a jacket, pants, boots, belt and hat. If you simply list those items, they do not break any rules but since it is a costume that could be be mistaken for a cast member in costume, they profit them. But If you are doing a custom rebel style, I don’t think a rank badge or emblem is a problem. They sell rank badges in the park and there has not been any talk of problems or warning.

Haha, that's good to hear. Military wear makes up a good portion of my closet!

If I was a security guard at the parks, and some person came dressed in fatigues or camo head to toe, I would definitely refuse them entry. I'm not talking about fashion clothing with a pattern, but the stuff you can pick up at a surplus store. If I was a guest, seeing a person dressed like that would definitely make me worry.

Many years ago, I saw several US Marines in their dress uniforms attend the park as guests. According to this rule, they wouldn't be allowed today?

I would think that servicemen in Full Dress would assuredly be a different situation than somebody walking around in combat fatigues. I mean, both are arguably replicable, but Full Dress commands a much different attitude than fatigues. Any redneck who shops at Walmart can grab a set of woodland camo BDUs and an OD shirt.

When i said military wear, I was talking general military inspired clothing. A-2 jacket, sheer lined bomber coat, British commando sweater, stuff like that.

Here are a few of our photos from the last couple days:

I know what you meant, I just read over the Disney rules, and the mention no military style uniforms.
Below is a non-Disney affiliated blog about Disney Parks, article on what you can and can't wear.
Disney Clarifies What You Can & Can't Wear at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

With the rule on military uniforms, Disney could say that even though members of the armed forces protect the country, it would be inappropriate to have them in their uniforms, since it takes away from the Disney experience. Having a common rule in all parks may possibly prevent problems and uncomfortable situations at foreign parks as well...as in Disneyland Hong Kong, Disneyland Paris, (Disneyland Moscow....).

Cool. What did you think of GE?

Is that a Savi's lightsabre? If so what do you think of the quality?

Is that a luke robe or jedi robe they sell at the park?

Glad you had a great time.

Galaxys Edge was a blast, from looking at the displays , a cocktail, to just walking around and looking at the detail of there craftsman to make every single detail aged, can’t wait until Jan 2020 for the rise of the resistance ride to open, will go back, the Millinian falcon ride was fun for all...

That’s my Korbanth Gullwing with chassis and neo pixel , wearing my Luke Robe when we left for Disneyland 430am Monday morning...

So if you were wondering what it takes to get booted out of the park, here you go... I got in no problem, but security had a problem with it later on. They asked me to remove my vest of all things. I planned on changing after lunch anyway, and they were very nice about it, complimenting me on the outfit, but saying people might mistake me for a cast member. I pointed out all of the things that were wrong about the outfit, but it was largely a judgment call for them. My hotel was right across the street, so no biggie. Chewie motioned for a picture as I was coming in, but I was in a rush to get in the Smuggler's Run ride, which ended up being a 90 minute wait.

Apart from the security folks, everyone else had a good time with it. Some cast members chatted me up about the various elements, including my boots, which are not riding boots (which I own), but actual dress boots that I wear to work and to parties. I can't wait to go back tomorrow in a more anonymous outfit.

Great report. Very strange though. I am pretty sure I’ve seen the vest worn in the part before. Maybe it’s all the other elements so they hit you in something you could remove right then.

I think the fundamental issue is that the criteria is not clear, and therefore cannot be applied consistently. I knew it was a risk, but it would be nice to know for certain what is and isn't acceptable. No masks... cool. No robes... cool. Those are objective criteria. The other stuff is a judgement call.

I would say the following would apply:

1) Do not copy any established character exactly. Though OT characters are not represented, they can show up at Star Wars weekends. Avoid looking like one. Also as was demonstrated, very close with minor differences is not enough. It is odd that in their own example there is a woman that to me looks too close to Rey.

2) Dont look like a cast member.

3) Elements of specific characters are okay.
A shirt, a vest, pants are okay, but together as an ensemble ... no.

4) A prop should be small or stow-able. Macrobinoculars likely no. Cell cover looking like a data pad okay Nothing mistaken for a gun.

just my $0.02 ....

Went a few weeks ago.

I know it sounds silly to say "it was magical", but it kinda was. At least for us.
It wasn't crowded, the overall vibe was great, the food was better than anticipated - and seeing the Falcon...you can't not smile when you see it. It's just amazing.

And I'm not a "rides" person, but the Falcon ride was too fun to experience only once - so we went in again later in the day. The Disney app tells you the approximate waiting time for the ride, so when it was down to around 45 minutes; we went for another run.

Walking into the Falcon [ride] is as impressive as seeing that thing from outside. And when you get called to head towards the cockpit....and that door slides open....and you grab your seat......oh man......it is the coolest thing.

The second time around we were with a young family of 4 (the ride is 6 people at a time in the cockpit), and all of us were really into it, shouting commands, believing that we were really trying to "retrieve the cargo". Being with people who play along makes the whole experience even more memorable. It was just pure fun.

Obviously there's more than that. The shops have a lot of [cool] stuff available for sale, and the staff is extremely nice (and always in character). You can also get pulled aside by Troopers, asking for your I.D. It happened to us, and I felt like a little kid again.

There is one weird thing that happens after spending 4+ hours there; when you exit the area, you sort of gradually "fade back" to reality, into the rest of the park...and it's a strange feeling. The immersion is so effective that it makes it strange when you head back out to the usual Disney sights & sounds. Strange, to say the least. We sort of didn't want to go back to that. We wanted more. I guess that's a good thing, if you're a SW fan.

Anyway, here are some pics from my visit.

One more thing, as impressive as the Falcon is, seeing it when it gets dark, with the lights on, and seeing the lights in the cockpit......magical.

I know exactly what you mean. The first time I walked out and re-entered Disneyland proper by Splash Mountain, it was a bit disorienting.

GE is also an awesome place to see the fireworks.

So if you were wondering what it takes to get booted out of the park, here you go...

Thanks for this—very interesting. I will be visiting GE for the 1st time next week and have been debating what to wear. I have full Han Solo cosplay but suspected that would be too much (and now your post pretty much confirms that). It seems like maybe you had just one too many character-specific costume elements (shirt + vest + belt + boots) and they chose the one "easiest" to identify for removal—the vest. I'm kind of hoping that's the case, anyway, because right now my plan is the shirt and vest (possibly the same as yours—Magnoli?) with the trousers belt (no gun belt), black jeans, and black "Han Solo" po-zu sneakers. I haven't put it all together, yet, but my hope is to evoke a kind of vintage Kenner Solo look, while not being too close to attract unwanted attention.

Great picture, though—glad you were able to snap that before security made you remove the vest!
