Done / Completed Doctor Who Machined Classic Sonic Kits/Completed Units

Since trying to reattached the head to the extending post on mine, every single piece of the head that was glued together has come apart. Even the small screw set inside the magnet has come undone. Oh and the red paint on the halo ring literally peeled off by itself.

I haven't finished assembling my Baker kit for that exact reason. I was rather shocked to see that the entire head piece was meant to be glued together! I've been kicking around ideas to make it work but most of them involve making a new cone tip piece. I want to drill and tap the holes and thread the connecting rods which should be a more secure assembly. I may have to make a new Halo piece as well.

Overall this run is the closest I've seen in accuracy. Having the Sonic in hand there are two or three things I wish could be tweaked that I really didn't notice in the pictures of the pre-production sample but overall I love it. I've had two RussRep Sonics in the past and I like this one much more.

If the head had broken off, you ought to have contacted me before going off and fiddling with the parts on your own. I would have been able to help guide your through a repair process that would've avoided as much damage as possible to your halo. In any case, the paint on the sonic is not powder-coated paint like on the Russrep. This means that it is not as durable, and will wear over time much like the prop. However, this also means that the painted halo should not be put under force, as that may rip off some of the paint.

Do you guys own Russ Rep Sonics ? the emitter ( Round top ) considerably smaller than RR ?
The RB sonic model had a number of inaccuracies. Flat Bottom, over sized emitter, inaccurate activation length, etc. The emitter on my model was scaled off of the size of the vintage 1/2" magnet, and then checked on a number of screencaps.

Same here...The Baker and Davison sonics were fine, but the taping on the Pertwee leaves a bit to be desired.
Another member contacted me via PM, and apparently the tape had had some sort of shrinkage-related problem which left some sort of residue where the tape had shrunk. It seems that that is a prominent problem here, and it's my fault that it got through my QC, as I wasn't anticipating a problem that occurred over time, like this. If you guys would like, I could put together a list of the sizes of tapes that I used, and I can post a template for the tape placement that you all can use for reference if you'd like to retape your sonics.

Actually I did message you before trying to fix it on my own, asking you about the magnet screw.

June 30th: "What what is the size of screw used for the brass magnet screw? I'm trying to reattach the head to the extension pin, and if I can find one just a little longer, I can use that to pressure screw or to the pin through the bullet, the current one is just a little short."

However, trying to use a longer screw as a retention screw against the pin inside the bullet didnt work when it got tight enough to loosen the nut that was glued into it. Either way, I knew I was going to have a bit of work to do, I was just surprised that most of the glue failed as I was fixing other things. I'm capable of fixing it, so I'm not too concerned about it.

The halo paint was fine until i scratched a small edge of it off, then it all started peeling. I'll just end up repainting it.

Ah, my bad, I must have misinterpreted your PM as asking for the size of the screw so that you could secure the magnet by threading it though the nut and into the bullet. In any case, if you want to use the same color paint for the halo, you can use colonial red or burgundy paint to get the same look.

I gotta say, again, I love the sonic, but to suggest contacting the OP as a means to a resolution is laughable. The admission that a PM was read & outright ignored, simply because it may have been misunderstood is just bad form. You make a good product (bought a Baker kit), but any current & future projects need to be handled in A MUCH more professional manner.

I think I'm like many others here when I say, I'll buy your product, I'll tell others about it, I'll suffer through delays, setbacks, real life, etc. Just please, stay in contact & keep those people who have chosen give you their money updated. Don't give out false promises like, I'm sending it tomorrow, when it's actually going to be a few weeks from now. Be upfront & you could be THE go to guy for classic sonics.i truly look forward to getting some of your other products in the future.

Different subject, the halo & stuff is painted, but I'm like you guys, trying to figure out holding the bullet in place inside the halo, while getting the other pins in & keeping them flush has caused me to put it aside more than a couple of times, but I think I got it figured.

Anyone tried putting electronics in yet? I'm using the module form one of the build your own sonic toy sets because it has more sounds, and the battery compartment is more self contained. But I think i need to change the switch to a rocker like the one used on the 4th sonic toy.

I'm a bit late, but I've just got back home to find two sonics waiting for me, I'm very happy!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the run Bluebox303, they're fantastic :)
