Doctor Who: Time Agent's Vortex Manipulator *SPOILER*

I just want to say tons of thanks to everyone who has contributed to getting the VM figured out! I'm putting together a Captain John Hart costume and this was the one thing I was lost on, but I'm so glad I'll be able to put one together. Getting the leather put together will be an interesting challenge.

One question I have since I'm new to this is material. I'm planning on using plastic, but which version is the best surface for painting? I saw Risu mention the black detail, but that isn't available for all the pieces.

does anyone have a spare samsung a300 button ? i can buy it. i need this other than the shapeways one becasue im connecting electronics to it.

also what has everyone found to work well for the speaker grid thing inside the flap on the face plate? isit mesh? wher can i get a cutting of that from anyone?

The mesh I found was $20 for a tiny sample. The next size up was a bulk order of something like $200 for 10 square feet. I plan to cut my sample up into a few pieces and include them with the first few leather wrist straps I sell.

I'm waiting for the wrists trap before I order so I can get everything all at once!

I'm really hyped to get back to work on the strap after DC next weekend. I WILL have the prototype done by the end of September.

Any tips on what weight of leather to use?

I was looking on Ebay for pieces and saw 5-5.5 oz was common, as is upholstery weight. Just want to make sure I don't go too heavy and not be able to work it properly or too light and end up with something flimsy.

The leather is lambskin, and generally speaking it only comes in one weight. About 1.5 oz.

Hoping to get mine done in time for Gally.

I did the one for the season which shot in LA. Wanted it a bit different than the UK version.

Been trying to get in touch with zennix but he not bn on for few days. Wondering if the alumide faceplate and stainless steel buttons will fit as they similar materials , I tried alumide faceplate and black buttons and the shrinkage was too different.
