Thanks everyone! I was particularly proud of the shoes and my little girl looking like Newt is one of the reasons I wanted to do the costumes. Of course, the fact that I always wanted to BE Newt when I was her age didn't hurt

That's why I did it this year instead of a Terminator or Jurassic World (both of which the kids would have loved just as much or more) - because I knew I wouldn't be able to carry her much longer!

1) What did you use to pad the extended parts of the high-tops? Cotton wadding?
2) What did you use to make the Reebok label at the top of the tongue?

I've a few ideas of how to go about the shoes but none whatsoever for the trousers. Any chance you could share how you made them? Any specific pattern you followed? Or was it just a thrifted pair of trousers that look incredibly similar to the ones in the film? If so, what brand are they?

I used doubled over thick cotton batting and covered it with black out curtain fabric. It was cheaper than pleather and matched the matte sheen of the shoes better.

I actually just printed it off from a vector image I found online and mod podged it onto the shoe. Not 100% accurate (since it's not fabric/thread) but looks good for photos!

I got the pants on ebay - they're actually capris (for some reason that's all I kept coming across in that color/style!) so I let the hem out and got them JUST long enough to stuff inside the shoes. The brand was Xhilaration "light blue cargo pants"
