Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Yea, once I'm happy with it. Right now . . .mmm not yet. I'll see what others think. Thanks though!!

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Not trying to hijack or anything but i thought I'd post the pictures of the gun this thread inspired me to start on. It's by no means perfect. These pictures were taken lastnight, I added the little hose barbs and started on the things that go at the end of the front handle. Also got rid of the fingerprints the humiity was pretty high last night so the paint stayed a bit soft. :angry

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Looking good man. Looking good.

I kinda dig the wires on the board. Looks like they belong.

I cant wait to see the Pack...:love

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Oh my! ZR, that gun looks great! I've been tacking with mine for some time,. I chose to do it from metal sheet, but I have came up with a slight problem on welding the parts on.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

ZOMBIEREPELLENT, nice work on that gun! Much better than other's I have seen.

Rhett, I'm surprised you've not been showing this off to try to sell on any of the GB centred forums...

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Do you really have any choice but to keep it here? I suppose there's always Replicatorz.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

I think I'll keep my showoff stuff to this board, but GBFans and Proptopia are always on my mind.

:rolleyes Must be tough deciding to stay away from those places what with all the bannings and the such.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Okay, back on topic, got the board the way I want it.
All it took was to cast up three new nixie holders, etc., and add them on. Once added on, I laid a layer of rubber along the back, and secured it all with a new slab of plastic.

It came out nicely! You can't see how it hangs from the belt, with a nice kinda angle, but once the final pics are take with someone in the suit, you'll get to see how it looks. Onto the small circuit!

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Thank you guys. Here's the small circuit with the big one one the belt.

I dunno about you guys, but man I want to see this film on Blu-Ray. I gotta feelin' alot will change on these small costume pieces once that DVD's out.

I've also got the goggles and the Stunt Trap done.

The trap's really fun. I've been doing one's like this for while, and recently took another crack at the masters. It's based on an actual stunt trap that you see Ray holding in the TIME photo, and uses measurements from Ernie Hudson's own foam trap. These are availble on GBProject.com. I've done some custom stuff to this one, making it appear more accurate to photos.

What's really fun is the main body is made in two types of foam rubber. It's nice and squishy, and only weighs three pounds.

It even rolls and hooks onto the belt, due to a nice strong bottom plate.

The goggles are another story. What sucks about the film transfers, is alot of detail gets washed out, even in HD. But I've been able to get my hands on some nice press photos and catch ALOT of detail left out on other fan made replicas.
The other wild thing is, it appears that the goggles get repainted and rebuilt over the course of the film. In the hotel, the are a dark army green, and appear to have been dropped . .HARD. You can see a long crack on the front of the face mask, and the on/off switch is missing. In fact, from scene to scene, pieces appear and disappear.

Anyone who's owned a pair of real NVG's knows their very fragile.

At the end of the film, the goggles are a nice OD green, and everything's back on. You can see them reallllly well in the TIME photo, and catch things like the additional groving on the silver lense. I had a hard time combining the two into a hybrid I liked . . .so I built both. They even have that weird liitle interior animation on a nice little faceplate!

At this point, the suit's pretty much done. All that's left is the watch, and a final lookover, and that's it! Then the photo session . . .no I gotta find someone to fit into the suit! :lol

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

What kind of screws/bolts/whatever are on the front of the goggles faceplate (4 - one each corner of the plate the lenses attach to)? Those are the only things I need to finish off my goggles and I don't know what to search for to get them.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

NVG frames are fragile? They're meant for military use, they're not fragile, and yes I do have some, 3 and they're sturdy.

Some constructive criticism on the goggles, there are details you have that are pretty far off or missing entirely. Other fan made replicas are just as accurate. The colour of the frames themselves will vary anyway, but the colour variations on film could easily be attributed lighting and colour adjustments made to the film and not different versions. The lighter colour you used is much closer to every real NVG frame I have seen.

There just socket head screws. Head to any hardware store that has those long rows of small drawers filled with screws, they'll have 'em.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

NOt to hijack Hotshot here but my new scratch gun is on the prop page. also a look at the new pack.
