'Ghostbusters' Costume FINISHED!!

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Yea, guess we have to wait for Blu-Ray to hopefully catch some solid evidence on this piece. There are several good veiws of it, but none of the caps I've seen are remotely clean. Oh well . . .for now.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

I am pretty sure we don't need to wait for BR for this, the Sanyo has every detail that is needed and from what I understand calculators of that era would sometimes have nixies instead of the vac tubes as components changed in the industry.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

The comparisons have been done... We have GB in hi-def... We have the poster image, which features screen-used costumes and props... We have the calculator identified. Spooky's got one, it matches up exactly. All the research is complied neatly in one thread over at Proptopia.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

I have one of the 802D's as well. It is nearly identical to the minolcom. There are a couple of TINY differences on the circuit board, possibly a result of the different requirements of fluorescent tubes and nixies. But it has segmented fluorescent tubes as well. Every Sanyo 802D I've ever seen has segmented fluorescent tubes. True, it's possible there is an earlier model with nixies, but I've never seen one. The Minolta has nixies though.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

The correct model is the Sanyo ICC-808D. The 802 (which is what I have) is the same as the Minolta (the Minolta uses a Sanyo board anyway) not counting any changes to use nixies. The 808 has the E/overflow box with red wires and everything.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

That's very cool. I didn't know about the 808. Does it have Nixie tubes as well?

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

The only one I've seen pics of had the 8 segment vac tubes, but from what I remember there were some serious variations of that particular board even to the degree that one version isn't even close to what we'd want. As I said, I had heard that nixies were used in earlier models of various boards. So I would imagine that there are nixie variants out there some place, much like the 802 and the Minolta, same boards, a few different components.

As an aside, finding pics of the 808 seems tricky, Spooky on Proptopia had posted pics of his though, they don't seem to be up any longer though.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Awesome guys. Thank you! :)
Definatly a sizable amount of info to build upon.

Those extra tubes will definatly throw a wrench into it. :confused

I had a long weekend in idaho and Utah, but should have this suit done by Friday. I hope to get the full pics up on Monday. Should be fun! Then it's onto the Pack!!!

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

I'm very, very proud of this piece. I look forward to selling them online eventually.

any more info on this? its a great idea AND it would save me from having to have half assed boards on my troops 7 uniforms.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

It's currently being remastered, and will be available in time (mid July) for the Video Game/Blu-Ray release, as well as Halloween. A GB2 version will also be done, and will also be available.

Sorry, there haven't been any updates, Nate got banged up pretty bad, but's fine now, and I'm just waiting for my home internet to be fixed (got hit by lightning), and I'll update with all the finished pics, as well as start the Proton Pack Buildup!

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Glad to hear there'll be an update soon, I just got my net working again but it didn't get hit by lightning haha.

Unfortunately I have to completely restart my proton gun. I might document my progress as I build it altho I'd love to mold it, I have no idea how I'd cast it.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Not updateing it for two weeks will cause that! :rolleyes

I've got all the photos shot, and they look great! Just gotta get them uploaded(hoping for internet when I get home today), and that'll be that!

Funny thing is, I've since found better ways to do all of this stuff since starting, and just may have to do another thread all together!!!

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

My home internet's back up, so updates soon! The watch came out well and looks pretty cool!
Can't wait to post the pics!

You're looking forward to selling them - I'm looking forward to buying one! that is absolutely awesome - the one piece of the costume I really struggled to get looking good without actually having a calculator to work from.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

I'd love one of those as well. Maybe I'll get the gear together for Halloween finally after all these years.

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

So you get the khaki flightsuit, dye it grey? That's for the GB1 suit right?

Re: 'Ghostbusters' costume buildup

Actually, I've been able to get Ghostbusters in HD, and I've picked apart the color with other Ohio Ghostbusters. Then we got to play with a suit.

If you want to go simple, dye the suit with one box of grey (1 box per suit).
If you want to get super accurate (which we're not completely convinced it is), here's the recipe.
Wash the suit with two boxes of color remover, then dye with one box of pearl grey, and half a box of purple. This will give you a suit that not only looks cool, but it will do all the tricky lighting/color chages the suit do in the film. If your indoors and its dark inside, your suit will look dark grey, if your outside, or inside and well lit, your suit will be light washed out grey. It's very hard to explain, but the recipe works. You'll probably want to dump some purple into your elbow pad bath as well, but not the belt.

On that note, here's the suit pics. Enjoy!
