HG:
I believe it's because they were attempting to capture the darker look from the movie. With the 2018 jacket, they sprayed some sort of coloring on it that washed out immediately. They chose the wrong dye color for 2021 and only faded it a little bit. 2023 is a different denim entirely which was also wrong. This 2025 40th anniversary jacket seems to be on the right track with the teaser showing the dye color to be used.I remember somewhere said that HG's first jacket was in 2010, but I can't remember where.
Why are the post-2018 jackets so dark? What were they using for reference?

That looks fantastic! I'm assuming the lightest is the new one and the darker ones is the 21 and 23 versions.Video uploaded by Headgoonie, denim testing.
Is it strange that it looks too light to me?
Those are my thoughts about it too. I asked if it would be possible to use less powerful fading chemicals. I'll post their reply if they give me one.Is it strange that it looks too light to me?
It looks more blue than indigo to me, like it should. Those are my thoughts about it too. I asked if it would be possible to use less powerful fading chemicals. I'll post their reply if they give me one.
Is it going to be a pre-order?
Looks that way.Based on this thread alone, I'm hopeful this will be great, however, I'd really like to see a finished jacket before I split with any cash to be honest. Is it going to be a pre-order?
Likewise. With all this and the other thread has given them, it should be perfect, but I don't think anyone wants to take a chance.Looks that way.Based on this thread alone, I'm hopeful this will be great, however, I'd really like to see a finished jacket before I split with any cash to be honest.
It would be a real shame at this point for them to not take the feedback on board. They are on the precipice of producing one of, if not the, most accurate replicas available. I sometimes feel like companies purposely leave a percentage margin to improve so that they can inevitably release an 'even more accurate' version down the line. Fingers crossed though!!The pockets are too square on that most recent image they released. I messaged them about it. I was told they would take my note into consideration. I'm thinking at this point it's too late to change it but we will see.
It's strange with Headgoonie. In some areas they improve, but in others they take steps back. They had the pocket shape pretty good even on their first jacket in 2010/12. I believe they looked the best in 2018. 2021 and 23 were a definite downgrade. Lets hope my messages to them are persuasive enough to push in the right direction. It would be a real shame at this point for them to not take the feedback on board. Last night I was at an event in my 21 and met someone wearing a 23. Make no mistake, it’s a gorgeous jacket but the fabric was definitely a step backwards. It's strange with Headgoonie.
