Thanks for the video. I'm very much a visual person. I've been researching what method to use to fuse the pieces together (epoxy or weld). Unfortunately, I threw out any additional scraps that came with the BS like the head strap.

I could see what I have left at home if you wanted to just pay for the shipping you can have it. I'm in Canada, so if you're in the States it'd probably be cheaper from someone there if they have scraps for you.

Thanks man.
The mesh is from ebay UK years ago.I bought it for my predator 2 biomasks visor. So it was sold as Predator eyemesh.
If something looks usefull I buy it and it can be that I need it years later!:lol

Looked back in the thread to check out your build and found nothing... looks like you fixed the mouth section (layered)...

I'm curious how much you've modded it... more pics?!

I did not made a tutorial because other guys did that here.I used the complete sharper front(frontpanel and mouthplate)of the disneymask, built new sideparts, painted the complete helmet matt black, drilled out the missing holes on the chromepart and attached a thick layer of fiberglass in the helmet. And I removed all this bad weathering from the chromeparts with nail polish remover.
I will add some of the texture of the Propshop helmet also..but I must look whats the best way for this first.

It'd still be cool to see more pics.:D I have one of those helmets coming, and gotta make a game plan.

Still not entirely sure how to attach the Disney face plate to the Black Series... maybe once in hand I'll have a better idea.

After Anavos cancelled the 300 helmet on me, this is my chance at a decent helmet.

I´m not a so big fan of Kylo Ren that I would spend the money of the premium helmet. So I´m happy with my updated Black Series helmet.:)

It's alright. I think I got it sorted out. Used small amounts of bondo and welded the rest.

Anyone know the best way to carve out the details on the helmet to make neat and movie like? Wondering if there is a way of making it look good without the use of a dremel.

Needle files. A fine set of needle files. Much more control than a dremel. With the dremel you can get a little carried away, at least I did. I still use the dremel though to take the bulk material away (since there's so much on some parts) and then various needle files to do all the shaping and precision bits.

Happy filing!

Man those look awesome!

I bought a Black series, then watches some vids on modding and then cancelled. They all looked like crap. I actually thought that maybe these can't really be done well.

Then I see this. Shouldn't have cancelled.

I don't want you to give away trade secrets... but if you have a build thread somewhere, that'd be awesome

(I assume this is melded with the Disney helmet?

I finished a disney front swap a few weeks back, be warned the two plastics seem to be different and aren't as easy to weld as the seams, I was thinking of doing a write up of it but totally forgot. I might do the mod myself on my kylo hel since i liked the nose ridges on the disney so much, just need a disney mask.

For the battle damage I use a soldering iron for everything, for making the sliced cuts I just guide the iron with a metal ruler to keep it straight and move kinda fast. I figured that's how a blaster might damage an actual helmet so why not right? Same with the splatter marks, dig in with the iron in an angle to make it look right then i cut off all the excess plastic that pushes out. I do the same with deepening the groove lines, minus the ruler just follow along slowly and evenly.

For all the straight stuff, files and exacto knife.

Considering I worked on it on/off and cut a lot of corners, my first attempt could have turned out worse. I am getting a 2nd as soon as I see one on sale, and v1 will likely be gifted to a friend.

Filled the seams with an epoxy putty, sanded, then did a thin coat of resin over the whole thing. One more light sanding, following by a primer, followed by a black hammered metal spray paint. I got the leathery look I wanted, but the front face still looks too textured. Even with tons of sanding and resin. I can see why some people used little orbital sanders.

My 2nd attempt will probably be a similar approach, except with way more sanding, and a fine textured spray instead of the hammered. I will probably also avoid the epoxy putty on the seams and use either bondo or welding. The putty worked great in the speaker openings, though.

Just to make sure I'm clear, this is the Disney mask that everyone is getting the mouth piece from? Thanks!

Started my mods this week. Welded helmet together and then used inner liner to fill the gaps. However, I'm guessing I didn't heat some of the plastic enough since I'm able to pick some spots off with little work. Some areas are rock solid so it does bond. I'm going to sand whole helmet then use a 2 part epoxy and coat whole helmet and let cure for an even coat. I cut the side dome and folded the flare out some to match the movie version a bit more.

It's be awesome to update with pics as you go... I love seeing these. I'm hoping to start on mine any day now.

Any advice for filling the nose section here? Looking at the ANOVOS pics, it looks like there's some chrome that goes behind the faceplates, but idk how to recreate that.
