Mad Max: Fury Road Costume Thread

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

So so far, all I see is posts about max, but what about the warparty wardogs/boys like nux? namely how would I replicate the white body paint?
Something quick and easy, but that wont rub all over the seats at the theater, and will wash off?

Also, where can I secure a pad like that? I have the WRONG TYPE its a bummer, my jacket is cafe racer instead of brando too, but w.e. its my first time doing something like this so I'm not trying to be screen accurate, but I will want one SA for wasteland weekend. 11102701_1427609287557139_7604505509423541892_n.jpg

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

One thing I noticed with the leg platform is the straps are pretty long. Even when I pull to tighten the straps they are still pretty loose on my leg
I believe there is a posibility that they just let the strap go all around and put the extreme under the rubber tube.
I think that what we see next to the panel is the black strap with the two grey lines (they are not present on this portion of the strap).

By the way, is Max hoding a LUGER??

I was able to adjust it to fit. When I first got it, it didn't look like I could adjust the strap and buckle closer but it could. The excess strap I just folded under the velcro tabs. I think about a half inch sticks out but like you pointed out it gets covered by the tubing anyway.

Also that sure looks like a Luger pistol to me.

Yep, a Luger and she's holding a WWI British flare pistol.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Not costume related but here's a photo of Mel and Tom at tonight's premiere of the film.

So cool to see these two together. Would have been amazing to see Mel play Max one last time.

If you look close at the square stitching on the left arm of the jacket, there is a definite border in between the stitches, so unless he ran a thread under all the stitches after, it has gotta be a patch.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

thanks, great shots

Another question, the shirt, the waffle thermal, it looks almost blue in some of the shots, just covered in sand and weathering, what do you guys think? Really weathered blue? or light tan brownish?

If you mean the shirt Max wears, it's definitely tan. I haven't noticed anywhere where it looked blue but you can see what it looks like in normal lighting here #423

Even that shirt could be slightly off too since its weathered and dusty but it's tan. Have a look at his bracelet too. Its foliage green but with all that dust it looks tan.

Unless I'm some weird form of color blind, or its just filtering, the shirt is blue.

also you can see it in this shot around the collar

I really think the "tan" is just sand and weathering and dirt and so on so forth

I still don't see blue at all. That's just weathering. Plenty of photos and videos show the shirt in tan color even without the heavy weathering in those screen shots.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

I also think that the dark grey/black waethering over tan/ochre gives the impresion of a blueish shade. But it´s very likely tan.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

I think in this photoblue 3.jpg

Its hard to argue that its tan, really, unless we are having one of those "What color is the dress?" moments, if we are, kill me now, kill me now, kill me now. Burn my progenoids, and shoot my ashes into the sun.

I purchased a M83 SADF Battle Vest from Old Republic Enterprises via Ebay, it was more than I wanted to spend, 75 bucks, but the condition was great, minor wear on some of the straps, NO writing, NO bugspray smell. Shipping was super fast, it came on monday, wasn't scheduled to arrive till friday. Here is a rough mock up of my costume, I forgot to put on the Shemagh I ordered, a black rothco verson, like 10 bucks on amazon. but here is my non screen accurate version not fully complete, nonetheless I feel pretty good about it considering its my first costume like this ever, besides like halloween stuff?

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Rufio, it´s very likely that what we are seeing is a trick of light, shadow, dirt, weathering and color filter. Barroque painters used patinas of black and grey to create blue. I strongly believe it´s an optical ilusion. Pictures of the original outfit posted before show the shirt tan.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

I see the light, no pun intended. This must be like one of those "The dress is black, the dress is gold" moments. I just ruined Mad Max Fury Road for myself, am I happy now?
Anyways, I could have SWORN it was blue, but Tan seems like just a better option and makes more sense, too bad its way too late in the season to find any thermal waffle shirts... Salvation Army and Goodwill, Here I come.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

The Enterprise is white, the Enterprise is grey; Ties are blueish grey, Ties are plain grey; Han ´s coat is blue; Han´s coat is brown; Kirk´s tunic is mustard, Kirk´s tunic is green...color is real complex.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

I saw the movie tonight and I was blown away! Non stop rush from start to finish. The movie is also extremely visually appealing. Well worth the wait! Anyway here are some more photos for you guys. These came from both Tom Hardy's and Charlize Theron's stunt doubles.

Check out that massive stand in knife and sheath.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but has anyone noted how far forward the Rawlings shoulder plate sits on the FR jacket compared to the RR version? In some shots it seems to sit more squarely on top of his shoulder (which is the way I thought it always was meant to be), but now it seems to sit way forward like in the two pics Fabian posted above.

Since the padding it's stitched to is riveted to the front and back of the jacket is this just how the new version sits? Or is the jacket just slumped that far forward over Tom's shoulders in the pic?

Any speculation? The way the pad sits is gonna be key to an accurate design.
