Makeup & Effects Lab Prop Party April 16 N. Hollywood

I need to speak up here. Dennis has spoken out of turn on the subject of bringing kids to this. MEL is an active working industrial workshop, with many power tools and hand tools around the shop, many of which are cutting tools.
We are NOT A KID FRIENDLY environment. We strongly recommend not bringing your kids. If you do bring your kids, you will be responsible for their well being.

Is it still okay to bring my wife, my girlfriend and my mistress?

Don.....It was a joke when I was responding to Gobler. From what I understood no one was going to be allowed to run free inside the main shop and work areas where tools and machines were unless escorted. So I assumed kids were allowed since they were at the last prop party and we were doing the same thing......anyway I'm sorry for the mistake.

So wife a no, no? It's cool if it's not a god idea. I just wanted to show her some of the things I helped build when I worked there.. Got to look cool for the missis. :love

Gobler...its ok to bring the wife. Don was talking about kids and felt it would be best to leave them home for this party.

Just got home from this event, and while it started out a bit slow, it ended up fully awesome.

The tour of MEL was fantastic, I'd never seen it before, and it really made the day worthwhile.

And then, we got to cross the street and were given a tour of Global Effects by it's owner, Chris. I hadn't expected that. The only thing I love more than Sci-fi stuff is real space stuff. And the sheer amount of costumes, from steel armor to replica space suits used in movies, to real deal space suits that may fly on Virgin Galactic, totally made my day.

So, a big thanks to everyone who put this day together!

Thank you to all for hosting this event. I had a wonderful time chatting with folks and touring your facilities. The added bonus of the tour of Chris' Global Effects wonderland was icing on the cake.

Again, thank you! :)

Oh and thank you Don's wife for the grub :) To those who missed it, you missed a great shop tour & history :p

My wife and i arrived late but it was nice to talk with professional prop builders and see the place where the magic is created. Thanks for posting information about this party.

We want to thank all of those who attended our party, I know it was short notice and we appreciate all those who turned out for this. Overall the attendance was around 30 with 10 displays.

Is the Vlad Tepes helmet cast from the original or a custom sculpt? I would LOVE to pic one of those up!

Some guys who were on the list didn't show up. Ok guys what lame excuses do you all have for not attending? Matt?

So...you guys wanna do this again next year?

I would have loved to have gone. This is the kind of stuff I've wanted to do since coming to California.

Had tickets to the Long Beach GP though. Maybe next year.

Until I have time to go thru my pics, here's a little tease....

Done Coleman's Robby he made himself.....you know him here as "Sawduster".
