Maltese Falcon, The

Also, does anyone have the Agency Certificate?

Thanks!

Actually that is not an Agency Certificate, but a Pacific Coast University certificate:

Update.
Just noticed that the framed document changes between shots, so here's the other one (already posted in this thread):

Ok, RafalFett's paper props are printed (thank you once again for your work)
Added a few more to the small collection: La Paloma newspaper clip (not as seen on screen), Joel Cairo's bank notes (not seen), the script and Dashiell Hammett's book (dust cover only). Still working on a couple more

More props from the movie.

1st is the Greyhound poster from the Union Bus Terminal, near the Baggage office:
Image31.png

I haven't found an exact poster or ad, but there's a close one:
greyhounddefensepic1_1024x1024.png

I managed to decipher the text and do a good replica of the poster:
Greyhound Poster v1.png Greyhound Poster v2.png

I made two versions, because I found one with the white and one with yellowish background. And because the image was upscaled with Topaz Photo AI, the text on the map is hard to read, but I'll tackle this issue in the future. The poster is huge and should print around 900 x 770 mm, but I had to downscale the images at 50% to be able to upload them.

And my replicas printed at a smaller scale (close to an A3):

The second prop, which is still a WiP, can be found in Sam Spade's office, but also at the Union Bus Terminal:
Image22.png Image32.png

It's a TWA wall calendar from March, 1940. I found one photo on eBay and three more on WorthPoint (sadly no March):
s-l1600 (91).jpg 1940-trans-world-airlines-twa_1_1679d2e64c7aabc835a056258f1c44df (1).jpg 1940-trans-world-airlines-twa_1_1679d2e64c7aabc835a056258f1c44df (2).jpg 1940-trans-world-airlines-twa_1_1679d2e64c7aabc835a056258f1c44df.jpg 1_1679d2e64c7aabc835a056258f1c44df.jpg

There's a thread on RPF that already discussed this (I found this thread after I did my research) and I'm glad I found it ==> Maltese Falcon Ronson Touch Tip Lighter.

The 3rd prop is seen only in a couple of shots (this is also a WiP) and is a matchbox called Dependable:
Image19.png Image26.png

I found some variants of the box, but only one good candidate:
s-l1600 (8).png s-l1600 (6).png

And a variant:
s-l1600 (85).jpg s-l1600 (89).jpg s-l1600 (90).jpg

And now the 4th and 5th props:
Image53.png Image33.png Image49.png

You are looking at a La Croix Fils Wheat Straw cigarette paper and a bag of Bull Durham tobacco with another version of La Croix Fils attached to one side.
The correct cigarette paper cover is this (it have to say 150 leaves):
s-l1600 - 2023-08-04T184903.622.jpg s-l1600 - 2023-08-04T184910.708.jpg

The cover was closed with a string attached to one side of the cover and run through a slot on the other cover (I'll have to do this on my replica too), similar to this variant:
s-l1600 - 2023-08-16T202208.120.jpg s-l1600 - 2023-08-16T202213.502.jpg

And the fully recreated replica:
La Croix Fils Wheat Straw v1 Cover.png La Croix Fils Wheat Straw v1 Inside.png

This should print at 84,6 x 72 mm when fully opened.

The other La Croix Fils cover is this:
1_0eddcabc3d27e50f2d8b6b1d460d2075.jpg s-l1600 (47).jpg

And the fully recreated replica(s):
La Croix Fils Wheat Straw v2 1 Cover.png La Croix Fils Wheat Straw v2 1 Inside.png La Croix Fils Wheat Straw v2 2 Cover.png La Croix Fils Wheat Straw v2 2 Inside.png

These should print at 90 x 60 mm fully opened.

The correct Bull Durham tobacco bag should be the one with the 7/8 ounce tax stamp, but so far I haven't found a bag with the la Croix Fils cover:
s-l1600 - 2023-08-14T112554.751.jpg s-l1600 - 2023-08-14T112754.594.jpg s-l1600 - 2023-08-14T112728.320.jpg s-l1600 - 2023-08-14T112758.870.jpg

And as usual, the fully recreated props:
Bull Durham Tobacco Label v1.png Bull Durham Tobacco Label v2.png Bull Durham Tobacco Notice Strip.png Bull Durham Tobacco Tax Stamp.png Bull Durham Tobacco Tag Front.png Bull Durham Tobacco Tag Back.png

The label should print at 60 x 41 mm, the tax stamp at 141 x 17 mm, the notice strip at 19 x 137 mm, while the double sided tag at 23 mm diameter.

Due to attachment restrictions, here are the photos of my replicas:

The canvas used for the sack was dyed with coffee, while the white string was painted with a yellow sharpie. The inside was stuffed with an old, used sock. Here's the 1st, bigger variant I made without weathering for comparison:
20230820_114637.jpg 20230820_114654.jpg 20230820_114710.jpg 20230820_114740.jpg

The paper to imitate the cigarette paper is actually a packaging paper, but you can easily use baking paper or any kind of thin, brown paper.

Here's a crude template for the tobacco bag:

So glad someone else is interested in obscure Maltese Falcon props/set dressing! I never noticed the calendar appearing in the Bus Terminal, good spot. I also didn't come across the November calendar (appeared recently?). I assumed the March picture had been replaced since I had only seen the Airplane months. But since the Dam is there, perhaps if we find March it actually will be the right photo of the Grand Canyon.

Man, you've been busy. What an amazing job. Need time to process all these.
Thank you so much for sharing all these props.
Again, amazing work.
Thank you

It is definitely March (screencap from a recent 4K print):

You are most welcome!

RafalFett - outstanding work! And a big THANK YOU for sharing your efforts - this project has been added to my "to-do" list!

Thanks for the kind words!

Right, I'm with you. What I was saying was that until I saw your Hoover Dam calendar page I thought the propmaster might have covered a picture of a TWA aircraft on the original calendar with a new picture of the Grand Canyon. That would have meant finding the calendar wouldn't reveal a good image of the Canyon. However, that is now very unlikely since we know the Hoover Dam appears in the Calendar.

Here's the calendar fully redone with correct-ish fonts, all elements vectorized, while the image of the Grand Canyon was upscaled and enhanced with Topaz Photo AI, then colorized with HitPaw Photo Enhancer:
TWA Wall Calendar March 1940.png

This should print at 546 x 318 mm.

I found another TWA calendar on eBay from 1939 which had the same font and configuration for the months, so I used it to match the 24/31 and add the text for the Grand Canyon:
s-l1600 - 2023-08-22T191841.589.jpg s-l1600 - 2023-08-22T191927.116.jpg

I opted for the blue layout, because January was yellow, February and April red, and November blue, so March was between 2 red months:

My mistake.
The calendar from 1939 also has the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon on different months with different photos; there are photos with other locations and people.

So I found the right point on google maps but the vintage photo I found was mislabeled, It's not Bissells point, I'm not sure this spot has a real name. Anyway, I photoshoped a picture someone uploaded to Google to move the perspective and uploaded that version to Google Lens, which allowed me to find a new photo I cropped down to this:

I think this is as good as it gets until we find the original, where the photographer was standing slightly more to the right.

That looks really great!

I used your image with Google Lens and I found a photo with better lights/shadows, but the left and bottom sides were missing:

I combined your photo with mine and did a bit of color correction, then run it through Topaz Photo AI:

And here is the calendar with the new photo:

Yeah I found that one too, but as you said parts were missing. But if we are going for as accurate as possible, you should grab the rocks from the full version of mine to put in the corner. Mine came from travelocity, but I had to go through tineye to get the full res version.
