As I've been drawing, I've been thinking: how am I going to print this?
It's ~580mm or thereabouts. Most of us are going to have to split the model. Hmm.
I see the body being split into three parts. So it can be printed. Here I mean splitting starting at the front (shooty bit), with three split across (into) the body of the rifle, towards the back (stock bit). I'm assuming here the grips, and rear thingie (tm) are printed separate.
Also though, I see it's nicely split
right down the middle. Two clamshell halves if you will. Here's an example:

I also see that there's a TON of M3 sized fixing holes. I love the idea of being able to use some drop in fasteners (3d printed drop slots), and bolt it together. Just not sure how that's going to work out if the entire body is split into three sections. I'm worrying that the stressed (fixed with bolts) sections will crack any paint/joiner in between.
Thoughts and ideas welcomed. Please.
