MR-style Plaque Stand STL file?

I tried searching and didn't come up with anything.
Just wondering if anyone has an STL file for an MR-style plaque stand for the standard 3.5" x 1.5" plaques that they'd be willing to share. I've checked the usual places (thingiverse, etsy, cults3d, etc) and the free STL thread here, and haven't come up with an STL file. I did find a couple of sellers that sell the plaque stands, but I need quite a few and I'd rather print them myself.

Thanks in advance!

Can you show us what the stand looks like?

I looked them up, they seem to be pretty easy to model. I'd be happy to do it for the group. If it would be possible for someone to loan me one for measurements and getting the curve and angles right? Please DM me!

That's the one! I don't have any, so I can't loan you one to measure. I do believe the plaque itself is 3.5" x 1.5" if that helps at all.

Hmm, that's a start! Okay, barring holding one in my hands, maybe I can get these questions answered?
  1. How does the plaque attach to the stand?
  2. Is there a black border around the plaque after it's attached?
  3. What angle does the stand hold the plaque at?
  4. Is the plaque held above the base surface at all?
I feel like these questions are important, otherwise you wouldn't be able to use a printed stand next to an official one, because you'd see differences.

If anyone has a 3.5" x 1.5" MR stand with plaque, some close-up photos would be helpful.

Thanks!

I believe the plaque just attaches with some double-sided tape.
Yes there's a border around the plaque. Here's pic I found over on Rebelscum's photo archives:

The plaque is recessed as well. I don't have an empty one, but I'd guess maybe 1/16" depth or a little less. My plaques are inset with about 1/32" of the border still raised.

Thanks both!

Any chance I can get some specific photos?
  1. The front of the stand and plaque face-on (face-down on a scanner would be better).
  2. As orthographic a side view as you can get.
  3. As orthographic a top view as you can get.
  4. As orthographic a bottom view as you can get.
And again, if anyone will loan one to me (even with the plaque on it), I promise to take good care of it and return it promptly. I'm in Southern California. Whoever does this will get a few free prints of the finished stand back from me!

Thank you!
Bill

Great, I'm also looking for an MR Stand STL/3D file to print myself, but just like you, I've had no luck.

I'm happy if we can get a good file produced here. I would also like to send you a sample, but it probably doesn't make much sense since because I'm from Europe. I'm glad that someone has already found a sample to provide. I'm also following this thread with interest. Great!

This way you can of course also quickly implement the other two MR sizes. Square stand (2.5x3.5 inches) and the Long stand (1.5x6.5 inches).
But first one thing at a time :).

Whoever's got a printer, please run one and test a 3.5 X 5" MR plaque. 10 degree tilt, 1/16" deep insert oversized to fit the plaque. I overlaid the photos to get it close, if this one works well I will add stands for other specific plaque dimensions.

****** I lied, 3.5 inch X 1.5 inch plaque, not 5 inch. The stand should fit a true 3.5 X 1.5" plaque with light radiused corners (toleranced)

Great laellee, thank you very much for your effort and work!

File is currently printing! I'll get back to you later / this afternoon / evening with a few photos to show the fit.

No rush! I'm on vacation so an update could take a day or so :)

When you get one printed, let me know if anything is wonky and I will quick tweak it. At the least, I suspect the stand might need to be leaned back a little more. If I had a line of MR props displayed, I would want the printed plaque to not look out of place. Thanks!

So here are the first pictures. As you can see in the pictures, the plaque doesn't quite fit in, it's missing about some little mm in height to fit 100%. On the left is the original MR stand (its a replica stand from ariel martinez, but this one is nearly 1:1 to MR), on the right is your stand. The angle of your stand could be a little more, as it is very straight compared to the original. Increase the tilt from 10 degrees to 25 in your model. Then it should be more or less 1:1.

Additionally, here are some measurements from the MR stand for better orientation, i hope that helps a bit.

Been meaning to do this for quite some time but kept getting out prioritized so glad to see someone’s taking it on!

The measures helped, thank you. V2 has updated dimensions, 25 degree angle, and re-radiused corners. I assume the 1.8mm frame width is consistent all the way around.

Updated model HERE and added to the other link

So I printed and tested the V2. The angle now fits perfectly. The width still needs to be adjusted a little, a few mm are missing here. The height is good. See attached pictures. V2 is on the left, the original is on the right. Plaque Size is 3,9mm X 8,9mm.
