My Randy Cooper SD build-up... in progress

Honestly, with a dremel and tiny drill bit........it takes very little time. I only spent a couple of hours drilling the entire kit for FOs. I may add a few in the trenches, but honestly, the dremel did all the work. I'm still superdetailing here and there, so I'll have to add more when I'm finished tinkering.

Here are some pix of more progress. The first one illustrates the upper buildings now are flush with the upper hull. There were various 1cm gaps in there before I added some detail parts to "fill-er-up".

Second one shows the little baffles I scratch built for the main engine rings. Yeah I know, it's not ESB accurate..........but it's a detail that ILM just dropped the ball on from ANH to ESB. That should have carried over......it just looks too cool to leave off. :)

Last is my scratch built claw arm for the belly bay .......using photoetched crane booms in 1/700 scale and other assorted 1/700 scale details. The cross arm pistons were made from deck cannons from the battleship model.

Yikes!!! I've gotta get out there and see this thing. Lookin good Dave, I love that crane and the pieces you added around the engines.:thumbsup

Got most of the left side buildings fiberoptics placed last night. I'm gonna put them all in before snapping more pix. I did quite a bit in a couple hours last night. :)

looks fantastic!

did you dremel on the hull to get the buildings to fit.. or did you dremel out the bottom of the buildings to get it to fit on the upper hull?

Beautiful! I'm gonna steal your idea about using extra greeblies around the upper hull seams! Nice!

I drilled on both the hull and the uper buildings. It's trial and error. I basically ended up putting the entire upper buldings to gether separately from the hull.........then I fit the whole thing back in place. I know that sounds insane, but I doubt I could have ever gotten it the other way. It just didn't want to all fit together unless I did it this way.

Imagineer, in another thread, mentioned buying Christmas tree LED sets if you need LED's in bulk. What a fantastic idea. I'm off to buy some at a local shop that carries decorations year round. :)

Got the upper hull pieces assembled, all fiberoptics in place, just need to wire them up now. Got the claw in the belly bay and man does it look sweet. I need to fill a couple gaps between the neck of the tower and the upper hull and I'll basically be ready to paint. Gonna work on assembling the engine section tonight. Pics coming soon.

Hi folks, here she is sans fiberoptics. I'm still waiting on the LED's to arrive and then I'll wire her up!!! The details are now complete and I've got her primed. Next comes the white paint and it will truly be a finished task. :)

Thanks Joerg, it really looks so much cooler with all the extra doodads painted the same color as the rest. :)
