National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets - Share Your Props & General Discussion

Re: National Treasure 2 Burnt Page from Booth Diary?

Sarednab, I just noticed this. I think you might have been mistaken about the Booth Diary that you are purchasing (and for all those who are purchasing the diary from Ross) as being a "original production" Booth diary. Ross says on his illogator website:

"Your copy will be created exactly like the copies I made for the movie."
(click on above to view)

So I think yours is a replica or exact copy of the ones he made for the movie, not necessarily a "production-made" copy. Still awesome, and I totally want one, but just for clarity. :)

No no, he talk about covers, but books were made in 2007 for the movie ;)

Re: National Treasure 2 Burnt Page from Booth Diary?

I don't know about Booth Diary, if I remember well he still have 3.
Regarding BoS, I think the last one was sell to you

Yes, the last BoS is sold to me.

PropsGallore, who had just bought a diary from Ross a few years ago, just told me that Ross had ran out of studio copies a long while ago, but now makes EXACT copies of Booth diaries. (Ross dates the certificates of when he makes a new the Booth diary now. The undated certificates indicate that it is a production-made one.) I guess I missed my chance. :confused

No no, all you bought from Ross MacDonald is material that he made for production. I think PropsGallore bought it recently, like me.
Ross relase a CoA everything you purchase from him and in this certificate he say that was made during production of the movie.

If you want a Booth Diary from Ross, you can have it. And you'll have a original production book like mine and PropsGallore

Re: National Treasure 2 Burnt Page from Booth Diary?

I highly recommend these Production* props. worth every penny.

Re: National Treasure 2 Burnt Page from Booth Diary?

I post this just to be clear. Mr. Ross MacDonald ask me by email to post this for him.

"Just to clear up the discussion about production-made copies: on my store site I don't mention that I have a few production made things, because I didn't know how long they'd last, and I didn't want everyone expecting to get production made stuff if I didn't have any left. The copies of the Book of Secrets and the Booth Diary that you got are just like you said on the rpf: the bound paper books were production made, the covers are made new. Carrosea's is the last production-made BofS (the book itself, not the cover). I have one production-made diary (again - book, not cover), and several folded and gathered books that aren't bound together yet. I should also note that your diary cover incorporates some pieces - leather, board, etc - that were made during production. The small pieces of red leather in the pencil holder and the strap holder, and the black leather sides (gussets) of the large pocket were left over pieces from the screen-used copies. I save everything!

Also - if you EVER see any NT2 prop listed as 'screen used' it probably isn't. The only screen used thing I have is the pistol. The production companies usually buy the props, in which case they own them and keep them. Occasionally they rent the prop from the prop maker, in which case the prop maker would be able to sell it as screen used. I have built and rented a few props to smaller productions.

Also - there is only ONE screen-used Book of Secrets. The one that's shown on my site is the screen-used copy. I delivered it personally to the set, was there on set when they shot the library scenes, and I had the BofS back here in my shop a couple of times to add new pages and to repair it. During one of those times I photographed it. My copy of the BofS was built during production, at the same time as the screen-used one, as my 'safety' copy. I had it with me was on set during filming. It is identical to the original. I match all new copies to mine. It should be noted, however, that they changed the original slightly later - they glued in a couple of new pages, one of them in the wrong spot. My copy doesn't have that mistake, and I don't put it in the new copies I build. I know I mentioned this to you before.

Also - in order to discourage forgeries, I sign and date the props themselves - if you look inside the pocket where the cover of the book slips in, you will see it. There are several other small hidden things. I can always tell one of my props from a copy. "

I think it is no longer at the library of congress. It says in this article is was only on display untiil Sept. 27, 2008. So I don't know exactly where it is now. Unless they decided to keep it there...

Sarednab, thank you for posting the clarification! Also, I don't think the screen-used one is on display anymore. This article says it is only until Sept. 27, 2008 that it was on display to the public.

Re: National Treasure 2 Burnt Page from Booth Diary?

Mr. Ross MacDonald would help us to answer these questions but he can't access on rpf, this is what he say:

"the book of secrets was in the library of congress (unfortunately, they displayed the bad page, with the wrong date and signature!) but most recently it was on display in a disney museum in california. That was as of about a year ago - not sure if it's still on display."

Oh okay. Thanks for sharing this, and tell Ross I said thanks for answering all of our questions! It would be cool to see the screen-used copy. :eek

Re: National Treasure 2 Burnt Page from Booth Diary?

I think Ross means the Disney Archives NOT the Walt Disney museum. Here it is in the archives:
