New Star Trek movie phasers - a clue from Barbie?

:lol

And when you pull the trigger, the teeth slide out.

First: "Trek movie was TOLD it was built from scratch." Sorry but that is a Salt Grinder.

Several prop shops were used, probably to help screw all of us up in searching and finding half built pieces and "real" props that turn out to have not been used.
Also, JJ has some stock in a 3D prototyper company or something and he brought one onto the lot and they made some of the props right there from 3D images, so who knows what they will look like. SIne many props, while held in hands in movies are not seen well, this is easy to get away with.
I'm sure a year from now we'll all be looing back and laughing, the moveie will be great or forgtten by then and we'll know more about the props than we want, Rylo will have made a metal replica that rocks, Playmates will have one that is suitable and we'll still be looking for the custom fabric that was made for the pajamashirts.

The phaser looks a LOT like a bar code scanner, but I heard that was used for something on the bridge (a bar code scanner.) Even then they have time to go digitally replace anything and the toys are prototypes, so the final versions ma be different... Can't wait to see, though I am also dreading it. :-\

Apparently these white gadgets on the helm console are the barcode scanners. There's a roll of duct tape between them.

Some other kind of gadget on the standup consoles on the back of the bridge (black handles)
