OdiWan72´s prop family

Well according to my 20yo nephew (who has only ever built LEGO or Minecraft), it's easy. He wanted me to make a custom stock for a rifle and he said "It would take like, what, a couple hours?" Maybe if I was a master woodworker.

I know the way to go about doing it, it's executing it that I have no experience with.

Wow…one year passed without any updates :(

It‘s been a quiet year with regards to new -finished- props, but at least I managed to get my hands on quite a few parts, kits (thanks eethan) and even some smaller stuff like the wonderful work of Lowlandprops (Roy Gilsing).

I started to work on several blasters, finished the Rancor door panel (kit provided by Ryan Clinton) and worked on my R1 blue squadron pilot (esp. the custom helmet).

Here‘s a little something I did today (still need to add the text to tge plaque)…the Endor rebel trooper wrist communicator. roy Gilsing kindly gifted me one of the stands he an Marvin are using along with their awesome work, which I used to display the comlink.

Should fit nicely in the cabinet besides the Hoth comm. and Lando‘s general badges

I call only a year without any prop update from me, a fast turn around.

Now I kind of want to make one of those to display with my rifle...

I dig the X-Wing helmet, what's that one from? I don't recognize it. I really would like some helmets, but man that is a money pit! I had a few cheaper ones years ago, but feel like I need to add some.

The helmet is a custom paintjob/ design for my R1 Blue Squadron pilot costume...startet its life as a trapper wolf helmet (was the cheapest BS helmet to get). Wings are applied per waterslide decals

I went back and looked at Rogue One and Mandalorian X-Wing helmets to see if I forgot what helmets were in those because yours looks like it fits in!

Small update

I finished the (4th IIRC) iteration of the DL18 with eethan ´s wonderful conversion kit and real model kit parts some time ago...

Yesterday I found the time to accurize my ROTJ, by adding the safety lever with matching grips and upgraded my old aluminum muzzle with an accurate steel version, again made by yours truly eethan :)

Had to butcher my real Margolin to make the safety work and fit underneath the left grip, since it is the -non safety- version I built my blaster from. Muzzle was hotblued and then soaked in oil to give it some shine...I really love the result

Here are some pics I took along the way...now it´s time to get back to my house overhaul :/

Thx for looking!

Just so you guys know I'm helping you all out because as soon as I sell something (my real Margolin ROTJ Leia), people start coming out with more accurate parts. You're welcome.

in the eventuality you are discussing the part I made above for Markus, this is based on photos of the real prop and a 3D model by me, I never heard of your Margolin ;-) (or you mean the real cast I based my model on is a screen-used Margolin you sold?)

I can confirm, I asked Matthieu to make me one of these back in April based on the photo above which has been available on line for years.

to be truthful, I searched online and that blaster with the photo above sold at the March auction at HA, so those photos are relatively recent.
And I don't know if that was your blaster that you sold Sluis Van Shipyards, I'm just saying I wasn't aware and I made that 3D model based on those photos and other snapshots from the movie.
If that was your sale, then yes I guess, thank you :) By the way, I only did 3 of those ;-)
In any case, I did my own work for sure :)

The important part is that Markus did a great job with his blasters :)

as a machinist.. when you see grooves that are all different sizes like this, what is your conclusion on the original tooling? Obviously it isn't one tool used over and over, something half the size?

no, they just used a 45° tool and moved forward with random/eyeballed lengths. I mean, this was my answer for a metal part, but I think this was wood turned again, so they just did it by hand as well and that gave random sizes on the grooves :)
