Scratchbuilt Lambda Shuttle

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Julien, yeah I did use most of those on the bomber didn't I, the spare one or two I have I'll need to cast for other projects dude, sorry!.
PM'd you regarding your shuttle build.

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Thanks Guy, I wish I have your paint skills ! I tried the chalks but I dont have the same result as you do :(

No worries Stu for the part, that's the kind of part which is used on each model we always run out of them lol

I replied to your PM, thanks ! :)

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

I'm missing the middle part which is a half cut part from the Morser Karl. I used them all on my TIE Bomber and some of them on my ISD. I dont plan to buy another Karl only for one part so I may scratchbuild it !

Julien,
Are these the Karl parts you are talking about?

PM'd you also,

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Ive worked a bit on the shuttle and added some details on the underside of the cockpit. The grills will be covered by hoses though.

With a coat of primer :

I vacformed the rear. A lot of sanding to get a good fitting !

Then I sprayed a coat of primer to see all the flaws and sand the whole body smooth.

I glued some of the details which go on the underside, I found some new parts.

I would like to add the flashing lights like on the studio model (even if I know the lights were turned on and off manually) but Im not skilled enough to do a circuit board for this application. I plan to use grain of wheats and not LED's. They are 12 volts. Could someone help me and tell me what I have to use to do those flashing lights ? Many thanks in advance !

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Wow, you have been busy Julien, most impressive work!. Very clean and tidy build work, which looks amazing with the coat of primer. There must be someone here that can help with the lights, that would just be the icing on the cake, all powered up to approach the Death Star lol!.

Keep it up dude!

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

The rear section you vacuum formed came out fantastic, the fit is SOOOOOOOO SMMOOOTH good work J-man!

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Lol Rich ! Thanks you guys !

Yeah Allan, this flakvierling is indeed tan and was part of the Mobelwagen kit (intensively used on the bottom of the Shuttle but also on the 8 footer Avenger and A-Wing). The flakvierling of the Mobelwagen does not have all the parts (trailer part etc...) but Im aware of a fully tan flakvierling which comes from the 8 ton (mine is gray but I know Tamiya did a tan pop of this kit).

Well I noticed that this part :

was on the pics taken by ILM and probably was here when the shuttle was shot. On the touring pics its no longer here and they even enlarged the square cutout probably to fit the display stand...

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Awesome Julien! It's fun following your progress on this. I can now see some of the kit parts on it.

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

Thanks Michael en Scott !
Glad you like it !

Tonight, while I was working on the shuttle this thing came into the room :

Of course it chose to go on the masking tape... It was stuck on it lol
It took me 5 min to carefully remove it from the tape...

It looks like it was happy to be free !

Julien, here in Germany this kind of bugs are a symbol of luck !
I think that is a very good sign for your shuttle build up.

I wish a bug like that fly on my workbench and help me with my Y :lol

Julien, great build up !

How's your Y ?

Re: SS Lambda Shuttle

I had a similar thing happen but it was a nightmare.... A huge moth flew into the kitchen as I had the window open at night when I was spraying, it was huge about the size of a large Fruit bat. It didn't bring much good luck as I destroyed most if the kitchen trying to get rid of it, I swear it had teeth & spat venom.
