Okay, so I couldn't make that exact mod work, but I found another process that works pretty well. Basically, it involves making a small hole above the button, screwing in the slider just above the button so that when pressed down, it activates the unit. I rotated the main unit so that it aligns with the slider channel, and voila! I also replaced the original white LED with a blue one, and took off the speaker wires so I could hook on new ones to replace the original plastic helix. Went with red & black, as I much prefer them to the later yellow wires. That's the best mod for that function I've seen! I have two of these arriving, one being a knock-off from Wish, so I'll probably attempt this on that one.
Thanks for the pics, starting on my diagram. It may change ironing out the details when I start building the prop.Excellent! If you need any measurements or reference just hit me up

I mean it's perfectly screen accurate, which I'm into.I think this is cheating as I was the art director for the new tardis but I saw this thread and couldn’t resist.
There aren’t t any part from any other console on the new one. There are a few bit from Meg 2, and even some R2D2 parts. All the consoles are put in storage or go on display you can’t take things off them. Most of the nobs are vintage 1960. Some of the controls are castings from my own collection. There’s some aircraft scrap and a tone of laser cut frames. But nothing from any of the other consoles. It was meant to give the feeling of some heritage to the hole franchise though.I thought it was pretty cool how many of the parts from the Pickwoad side console panels ended up on this console. Kind of a nice nod to previous Doctors, even if unintentional!

I assure you absolutely nothing was taken from any other set. But I can’t tell you what those peace’s are. There from the aircraft scrap yard . The red switch’s are from an airliner food trolly , the dial with the handle where from this 1940 telecommunication thing used on dark material. The black flat part are off the back of router. Even if I’d wanting to use part from another Who show I would be aloud. Because the storage facility wasn’t part of our production . I had to get permission just to look around. They may be the say objects but the are not the actual ones.Sorry I mean the side panels that the Pickwoad console room had, not the main console itself.
You can actually see the parts on the picture you shared, and I was able to match the weathering pattern to them. I imagine those panels were all stripped retaining the actual console. (Not trying to argue, just honestly an observation while looking at all the parts!)
And honestly I may not have noticed myself if I hadn't been replicating the Pickwoad in crazy detail, which I haven't shared much here terribly. The biggest thing for me is never knowing WHAT those spinners on the 360 degree plates were....haven't been able to find one! (There are 3 each on each side panel and 1 on the console. Bob Thorne had confirmed to me that the BBC bought his entire stock of those too! ha!)
