I also separated, repositioned and reattached the port warp engine. Now the top and bottom sections of the kit align perfectly. :)

Laser diode is installed but not permanently yet. Waiting for delivery on a more powerful one from China to try before deciding on which one. Only had talc powder to see the effect; will get a cigar tomorrow for a better smoke/beam effect. :)

Oh wow, no wonder you've been quiet lately, those windows must have taken a long time. It looks like you took your time and did them right though. Color me impressed.

Ah. I thought you had the fibre in there already, the glow looks so even. Even so, drilling all those holes is a tedious business.

Got the fibre optics into the front and rear section today. Now the windows can be seen from varying angles. :)image.jpgimage.jpg

You're moving along at a good pace. Will you be making the windows any warmer, or leaving them cool white? I think they were warm on the studio model?

Some are warm, most I'm leaving cool white as they are. I'm not painting it exactly as the shooting miniature, so i don't mind making these changes. If I need them warmed up, I can do it in post production. :)

I kind of like the cool white look anyway. It looks a little more futuristic somehow. When I did my little model I opted to do canopy glue in the windows instead of all that fiber. I mixed a little yellow acrylic in with the glue to give the windows a warm glow. Obviously that won't work with fibre, and your windows look better than mine.

But i could also lightly touch the ends of the fibre optic with a pale clear amber colour. A tedious job but i know it would work cuz a few of them were reddish in colour due to my blood being on them. The number of times i repeatedly stabbed myself in the same area on my thumb and under my thumbnail was not funny. My thumb is still throbbing with the pain this morning....gotta break out the pain killers today so i can use it freely. ;)
