Star Trek DS9 - Bajoran Orb of the Prophets Ark - Build & Finished

Holy crap (pardon the pun)

Dude that is flat out amazing.

Kinda surprised you didn't display it at the same 45 degree angle that it shows up in the shots with though.

Very very cool :)

You want to impress me, Alan, build a life size Enterprise out of some Sangria crates!

Child's play for him. Now, if he 'really' wants to fabricate something hot, he should build one of these...

Went to bed early yesterday after posting this as was exhausted.

Just woke up (7am this end).

I am totally, joyfully flabbergasted with your responses :eek

You guys have no idea how happy you have all made me :)

I am so pleased you all enjoyed the build.

Way to start the day !

Thanks from the bottom of my heart :)

Any chance you'd part with some rough measurements?

No problem. I'll do it on Monday :thumbsup ( too tired at the moment to hold a ruler up :lol)

That's a great build.

When do you start the run for more hand made copies :)

120 hours at a measly $20 an hour makes $2400, excluding materials.

I don't think it'll sell :lol

Hi Alan,
That is the best scratch build of this prop I have seen. Great Job.

HMS Mike

Coming from you, that is the most gratifying honour this replica could possibly be bestowed with :)

In negotiations with the government at the moment to purchase one our smaller islands for that purpose :sleep

:lol

Thanks Kevin :)

great. I want to add this to my 12 page list of 'Props I Must Build Before I Die' :lol

Actually, come to think of it, there is a much easier way to give you all the exact measurements (which is the method I used), than by using a ruler :lol

One of these Arks was sold by Christie's in 2006.

The description said :

" A vacuformed plastic and resin decorative box with painted metallic copper accents and plastic simulated stone inserts, replica of the Bajoran orb arc prop from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine -- 18 x 15½ x 15½in. "

So take this perfectly face front pic.

Enlarge it using the height only as a reference point. Then trace the resulting image out on a clear sheet of plastic, right off your PC screen.

Voila, all the measurements come automatically with this one side, which is of course identical to the other 3 :thumbsup

Mr Alan Castillo, you did it again!!! Fantastic work!!
It has been a "while" (you have us spoiled) since you haven´t post anything in your "My Prop Replica Collection", but the waiting worth it!!

P.S.: I don´t know if "you have us spoiled" is the right expression. I wanted to say "mal acostumbrados"!! XP

Absolutely phenomenal build Alan.

Your build photos left me mind-blown when I saw all the intricate detailing you carved out of those panels.

Fantastic!

Muchas gracias Rodolfo :).

I haven't posted anything because I had no time to take pics of other stuff I got due to this build :lol. They are small things, so I'll soon update that thread in one go shortly.
