Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but meeting Eric at this year's STLV has been a blast. The engineering suit is so close to original!! Having seen a original up close at a collector's home, I know how close this is. Kudos, and I just checked out all your other thread, your have some mad skills man! :thumbsup

Felgacarb, amazing build! Truly inspiring! Have you thought about doing the clear face mask from TWOK, or the helmet?

Thought about it, but tim is probably right...

In the meantime, some further research has led me to some better information on the Edelrid rings on the front:

Which, of course, led to me modeling them in CAD and having ShapeWays 3D print a pair:

Now I need to paint them and put them onto the costume...

I got the prints painted and ready to go-

Here they are next to my previous wood versions:

Now I just have to swap them onto the costume! (Man, I still hate hand stitching...)

Excellent job, as always. However, if I may make a suggestion, I'd loosen a bit around your waist, it's a little too fitted looking right now and it's throwing the look off. The costume has always looked rather bulky to me and making the area around the waist straighter would go a long ways in creating the bulky look.

Btw, I really enjoy your pics of your work, they're lots of fun to touch up.

Riceball- (also thanks!) Comparing my pictures with screen caps, I think you are right- My suit does look a bit more slim in the waist. I afraid I'll probably just have to file that away for the next time I make one, though, as I'm not sure how I'd add material back into the existing one...

Love the new pics, Eric. Rob Greer was the photographer at my friend's wedding. And funny note, Aron Eisenberg (Nog on DS9), was the videographer at MY wedding.
