Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

.

Probably not. But I find that bright lighting (maybe due to the Volume) with a perfectly mirror finish suit doesn‘t work well. The reflections all over the other actors was awful and the background and set seem too bright in the reflections. We didn’t see this at the end of ANH or in ROTS because they were more dimly lit.

In ROTS, they had to digitally touch up C3P0's android shell because of the set reflections

Is that ackbar next to mon mothma?
Careful, Icarus...

Because that could be...

MIGHT just be...

CAN be?...

DEFINITELY....

Its A Trap GIF by Star Wars

I'm not up on SW rank insignias, but one breakdown I'd watched said that Mon Cal had 'General' rankings instead of the 'Admiral' that you'd expect for Ackbar.
Dang it… it looked like his tan vest too.. I think it would have been nice if it were him

But thinking now.. he’s probably with leia

I was rewatching the latest episode and it occurred to me that maybe the reason C-3po was so arched is because the council were sitting in elevated boxes so 3po would need to ‘look up’ at them, and the shots where we’re seeing him speak from the council’s POV the camera is there instead of people and he was looking too high up trying to match eye line.

I was legit thrilled to see threepio. And even with Carrie gone it's nice to know that her character is still there. I was kinda hoping to get a cameo. If they can do a younger Luke, they can improve on the Leia from R1.

OK, I'm gonna say it.

Go ahead, bite the bullet, and recast Leia and Han for the Disney Plus TV series(es)

I think they should get Billie Lourd back (Carrie's daughter) to play Leia in this timeline.

And bring "Solo" actor Alden Ehrenreich back as Han, or get Anthony Ingruber (both actors are a little bit young for Han in the post ROTJ timeframe as they are each 33 years old, but with some makeup and clothing they could sell 8-10 years older). Ingruber was a body double for Ford on Indy 5, and even had a brief cameo in the film where he was one of the group that pulled a gun on Indy.

Honestly, I used to be against it. But I've come around to the idea of recasting Han, Luke & Leia with Alden, Graham & Billie respectively. Without any deepfaking or AI voices

I am in complete agreement with you both, but I always thought Millie Bobby Brown would've made a better Leia than Billie. That said, she probably wouldn't be the best for Leia at THIS age.

Honestly, the sooner they do it the sooner we can get past all the teeth gnashing that will go with it.
Only real issue I can see is some how making Alden feel older than his last appearance as Han. Because there's about 2 decades between when Alden's performance is set and when Graham and Billie's performances are set but only about 3-4ish years in real life when each actor did it.

Don’t think I saw this posted yet

For real though, I genuinely miss when StarWars was written like Chess instead of Checkers, let alone whatever the hell you can call “tactics” in this show…

Then again Disney SW and Filoni genuinely think ‘StormTroopers have bad aim’ is a real thing in the movies, so I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised… Tension, Story, Character arcs.. Consequences for ones actions… all left this Universe a long long time ago

Luke and Leia were 19 years old during A New Hope.
The Han Solo character was 32 years old in ANH.

In real life, Carrie was 18 years old and Mark was 26.
Harrison was 33/34 during filming (which means yes, his affair with Carrie was when she was still a teenage 19... but that's ANOTHER story)

BTW: TESB is 3 years after ANH, so Han is 35 and the Skywalker twins are 22.

Ahsoka takes place 11 years after A New Hope / Battle of Yavin.

SO.... at the time of the Ahsoka series:
Luke/Leia are each 30 years old.
Han is 43 years old.

In 2023, Alden is 33 (almost 34) and Anthony is 33.
Billy Lourd is 31 (the "correct" age for Leia at this time).

That didn't look like cgi. The way the light played off of the suit looked way too naturally complex for an animator to spend the needed time it would take to simulate, if simulating is even possible.

Besides, why cgi it when there's probably multiple suits that are still perfectly usable? That mocap shot of Daniels must have been for something non live-action.

If it was cgi, that's impressive.
It's very possible and not that difficult to do. Lighting is part of 3D animation 101 and the larger effects houses have an entire light team that do nothing but set up the lighting in 3D scene to match the lighting of any live action or real locations used. In the 3D environment they can set the placement and the direction the lights are facing, the kinds of light, color temp, brightness, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they have presets for specific makes and models of lights

The only tricky thing might be the reflections, but they can probably map the live action footage to the 3D model. The only real limitation is time and money, the tools are there and so are the capabilities.

Sure. I imagine the lighting engines they use now are incredibly sophisticated. Yeah, time and money would be the biggest factors against animating intricate detail like that. But again, an existing costume is cheaper, faster, and the best looking. That would be the logical choice.
