Temple of Doom Sankara Stone My First Attempt

Hey fellow Indy fans,

This is my first attempt at a prop replica of the Sankara stone from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.

I know there are 3 Sankara stones in the movie, and each one is different.

I sculpted this one while watching the movie, and I'm happy to add it to my personal collection.

I sculpted this with air dry clay, then painted it.

What do you think?

Looking for feedback from my RPF pals.

Thanks
Joshua

Looks good. I'd say maybe a little more bulk towards the bottom so that has a slight taper towards the top of the stone. I made about 3 different sets of stone before I finally was happy with my results. Once you have one you'll end up wanting 3 hahah

Good advice about the taper.

LOL, yeah I'm going to make 2 more so I have a set. Then I'll probably make another set and refine the sculpt each time I make them.

Clay sounds alot better than cast resin.
I wonder if anyone has made theirs out of a river rock?

That would be awful after finding one and then OCD takes over and need to find the other two!

I did an internet search for river rocks. There are places that sell them, just not individual rocks and no pictures of individual rocks. You would have to find a local store that sells them and search through their piles to find close rocks. And then you would have to grind them down since a natural rock is statistically improbable.

This Halloween I'd be happy to get a rock.

Thanks for bringing in statistics..... luck would have it if I found the right shape it would be the wrong size.

Maybe cast stone but then would end up with three uniform stones.

Out of a river rock would be awesome

There's a place a couple miles down the road that sells pavers and different rock for landscaping...I might just have to go and see if they'll let me dig through the river rock and find some rocks that are close....the finishing would be the time consuming part.

But yeah, neat idea for sure.

Joshua got himself in a bad place and took more time than he anticipated but in the end he made things good. Just sad it took a year longer to get my printed parts.
