AWWW THATS AWESOME~

I cant wait for you to get tigers stuff together! I wanna cosplay him so badly!

:D Thanks.
I'm working on joing the thigh and shin pieces to form a seamless joint in the leg. body is on the way so it shouldn't be too long with luck :) fingers crossed.

wow. this is cool! I actually have a friend who just made this costume...here's a photo. :)

I've randomly stumbled upon this thread tonight while looking for some reference photos on how people have constructed the Tiger and Bunny armour suits and boy oh boy am I glad I've found this place!!

Both Ikkakuro and FloatingFatman are amazing. I am stunned and in awe by your work!

Can't wait to see how things unfold. I hope you don't mind me setting up camp here for the next few months!

oh god that suit looks unbelievable. what on earth did your friend make that out of? i was going to make mine out of EVA foam but that looks too amazing to be made out of that stuff.

also, is there a even higher res scan of the Barnaby pages kicking about? i checked out Dei's ficker version, (which as super helpful btw! Thanks!:thumbsup), and was just wondering if anyone had anything larger than those? being old fashioned as i am, i'm going to scale these out and draw up the blueprints by hand so having something highly detailed that i can print out is highly desirable

well you guys have inspired me to get my **** started. unfortunately for me im not very tech-savy, so imma do things out by hand, as you can tell by my ****ty patchwork rough chest plate pattern. i've tried to make it to scale as close as possible. can anyone point out where i might be going wrong with this? its the first time i've ever taken on a project this large and complicated before. not to mention, i have no sewing skills, so i don't know what the hell im doing.

I've also started on my Sky High build! One of my friends is helping out with the sewing part of the costume, so I can focus on the armor sections and helmet.

Here's what I've done so far!

Shoulder pads. Made out of craft foam backed by mounting board. Gonna paint these soon!

Arm gauntlets and belt buckle. Built them around a mounting board base, then covered them in craft foam. Still have yet to attach the belt clips to the buckle.

More pics to come soon! I've already started putting bondo onto the helmet for sanding.

Blarg> I think you're off to a great start! If you want some even higher res photos, shoot me a PM with your email so I can send em to you :)

And surprise! That Bunny armor is almost completely made out EVA and craft foam! It's just been wrapped in PVC to give it a super shiny and sleek look! It's a technique most commonly used by Goldy, a cosplayer in Japan who specializes in mecha and armor costumes.

Ahh! You guys don't know how excited I am to see this thread! I'm in the process of staring my own Barnaby Brooks Jr. hero suit for a convention in the spring, actually!

So far I've been researching techniques to make the armor and collecting references. I'm wavering between the papercraft/resin technique or making a model and casting it with plastic. Any professional opinions on this? I also sketched a panoramic view of the helmet, but this 3D papercraft modeling system looks much more effective. Sadly I might need to track down another computer to get started on my own models...!

If I can get some blender/pep files for Bunny I will totally join in on this.

I wouldn't consider my self a pro in prop making but I can give tips and guides on working with the materials.

I'm also planning on most likely vacuum forming after the base parts are made.

dude! that was epically helpful! thank you so much!
i was also thinking of doing eva foam in the style of goldy, but its really nice to see that the final product is as beautiful as imagined. i might throw in some LEDS and EL tape strips just to add that small bit of flare to the costume, but thats a long way off. Im going to try and make my big cosplay debut at dragon con next year so i really want to go the extra step and make this look good.

also, i've been commissioned to make wild tigers face mask ( **** if i know why i was asked to do it, never been commissioned before). I know its not really armor but i figured it was TnB related so i thought i would post my current progress on it. on the right is a dragon skin cast, the left is just regular resin.

I've started building some machines and stuff thats about it. Really hope I can get the pep files to make my life easier. The mask looks legit though!

How do you plan to paint it?

Awwww sweet, I'm trying to get this done for Dragoncon 2012 as well! (If I can save up enough cash for it to fly over)

Those face masks look awesome! Are you planning to make more copies of it? I'm up for buying a cast :)

Heroforhire> I'd suggest going the pepakura route. It's faster and more affordable! The only annoying bit is when you get to applying the bondo putty and sanding that down.

Here's the helmet progress so far! Currently sanding and fine tuning the slope on the top of the helmet. Been working on the jetpack the whole day today, so pics of that will come soon!

ya totally, if your your interested in one i could make you a copy, but im told by anon on 4chan that the mask is really messy and it needs a lot of sanding, which might be difficult being as it's dragon skin

also, i'm very excited to see how your sky high turns out. are you going to end up molding the helm?

That's what I'm thinking too. I really need to get a hold of the program... or find a computer on my campus that has it, since I have a Mac. I know I'll have time to do all the bonding this winter, but I want to get started now...!

Your Sky High is looking SO GOOD so far! Are you making the rest of his armor out of a similar method? What con(s) are you planning on having it done for/wearing it to?

ill try to be as constructive as I can in saying this:

What the fuuuu kind of filler is that?! It looks really cheap. Also you should add less hardener. I can tell you are spreading it to slow. It shows terribly. when it starts to harden up. stop spreading. because it will just make all that work look like ****. then you have to glaze and sand some more. because you aren't using quantum. Also I'm hoping you didn't fill in ALL that empty space with bondo...

oh u decade! nah, i don't have a image hosting site, so figured i'd use the pic i posted earlier. i guess might as well sign up for one if i'm going to post pics and stuff here.

anyways, i might try using a razor blade to clean up those edges, but i'd rather not. anyone have suggestions?
