TNG Tricorder Evolution Thread

@Tripper: How did you come up with these graphics? Did you make them by your own or what? I remember making my own graphics with Paintbrush. It was a very punctual work and I never got to a point where I was satisfied with the result. I could not match the exact colours and typography.

Adobe Illustrator. It's just simple vectors. I studied several screen used units in person to get those graphics.

Yes. Exaclty. The graphice look very good. Nice job. I understand from your hompage, that you are a photographer and mostly you guys use much more sophisticated tools than, let's say, the usual tricorder fan! ;-)

NNEERRDDGGAASSMM!! Sorry, had to get that out the way. This thread takes me back to when i modded my tricorder. After 2 years it's still a work in progress!!

Hi everyone. I've been lurking on this thread for sometime, I am a huge fan of the tricorder. :love

Thanks for starting this thread.

I stumbled across two things that haven't been mentioned so far so I thought I'd register to post them

Firstly the Mark V Tricorder designed by Sternbach in 1986. I assume this is a design concept for TNG? Can anyone shed more light on this? the top sections have elements of the Mark VI and VII but the overall shape is very STIII and STV, but the Starfleet insignia and handgrips are remeniscent of TMP. it kinda shows the evolution from the "box of chocolates" TOS and movie tricorders to the "cellphone" style ones from the 24th century

and also

the unused "Future's End" design, which was later reused in "Endgame". Clearly it cost too much to make this model for "Future's End" so they just used a travel clock. lol
But the budget could stretch to it for the finalé

also it would be fantastic if someone were to add more detailed images of the two civillian tricorders

Vash's (seen in "Captain's Holiday")
and the one Picard used in that episode where he was kidnapped and pretended to not know Riker, I forget the one. But you know the device I mean. the grey one with the disk of three flashing green LEDs in.

Does anyone know if any of the switches in the side of Vash's tricorder actually moved or were they cast solid?
